My thoughts on Serenity bar fight one of the best I've seen .But there must have been sore stunt men because the way they were doing it having her kick and punch at full force then just touching is not that easy to do I don't see how she could have learned to do that in that short of time. It takes experts a long time to have that good of control.Thats not to say she was that bad at it that she was knocking them out but i'm sure they must have felt more then just a tap.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I think Summer has said that she trained for about three months, plus her dance experience helped her with a lot of the moves.

That scene made the break-away bottles seem hefty enough to hurt when they hit.

In the top 20 for me. Ip Man has the best IMO.

Yes thanks TWO.

It's great to see that! Incredible amount of work and so inventive.

CHRIS. What's the trick they do to make the dust puff off the shoe when it hits someone in the face....?

I love the part where the guy gets kicked on the ground and he just goes spinning off... Hilarious. A bit much but fun to watch.

(Ip Man gets my vote too, followed by the Protector.)

Thx TWO! Damn! I think if I were Summer and saw that sequence I'd be a little intimidated. "You want me to do that?!?" I know Summer has dance training and was in great physical shape, but she strikes as such a kind, gentle soul, and this physicality comes from another place.
There was a shot of one of the stunt people landing on a set of prop stairs HARD - those guys are tough.

A repeat of Serenity River Bar Scene Previz from 87eleven. Included in this version was a picture within picture of the Summer Glau fight from Serenity.
87eleven worked on Joss Whedon's The Avengers (2012) www.87eleven.net

I always imagined River learning the moves for this fight not at the secret government training facility, but while working in a future Cirque du Soleil/Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. That was art River truly loved, but her Mother aborted River's career on Broadway by withdrawing permission and sent River off to school instead. Parents are always thwarting their children's dreams and yet River ends as a ninja/space-pirate, which is better than dancer/stunt-woman. Mom loses, River wins.

It takes all kinds to make the world go ‘round. Unfortunately, some are pedaling in the wrong direction...

I can't thank you enough for posting this. I'm particularly critical of movie fight scenes, myself, and the Maidenhead fights has been one of my favorites. Prior to "The Matrix," it was nearly impossible to find mainstream domestic movies with decent fights. Too many actors would take a "crash course" in martial arts and that would be it. "Martial Arts" movies with proper fights were relegated to "straight to video" status. Even Mortal Kombat only had two good fights, the rest chopped up Hollywood style.

Thanks again!

I liked the way they flim it in most fight scenes they use camera angles and the punches aren't even close.Having her make contact made it look more real.I Search around for so more info on the fight Joss Whedon said before Summer got the hang of it she really clocked some of the stunt men so I guess they earned there money lol.
