Okay folks, just need to clear something up, cuz there's a lot of incorrect references here.

The 10th character is a Firefly-class ship.

Her name is "Serenity."

NOT "The Serenity."

Just "Serenity."

We all got that?
Good.

Actually I think that Inara spells this out in one of the episode, it may even be the Pilot or the second pilot (The Train Job), though I am not sure. Maybe somebody could clarify what episode she explains that it is Serenity and not The Serenity.

In "Bushwhacked", when the Alliance Captain is questioning Inara, the exchange goes like this:

"How long have you been shipping out with The Serenity?"

"It's just Serenity, and it's been about eight months."

Smaller vessels tend to build a more personal relationship with their crews. For instance, our aircraft are referred to in the sense of proper names, as opposed to titles. "Voodoo Child", "Firefly", "Intimidator" as opposed to THE Voodoo Child, THE Firefly and THE Intimidator. I think there's some Naval tradition involved, but I don't know what leads to the distinction as to when a ship's name is a "The" or not.

That works until you get assigned to a boat called, say "Flasher' (SSN613, now razor blades)

Of course even "The Flasher" is not much better.

Something I have been thinking about is that since the sets got taken down, they have to rebuild them. They probably would need upgrading from the ones used for television (better resolution on film than TV screen)

This also gives Joss an oportunity to make changes in the ship. But how would he explain it in story?

*Smacks head* real simple. Mal sold the Lassiter. But with the port compression coil being as wonky as it was, they put almost all of that money back into Serentity for repairs and mods. It was a lot more expensive than they thought it was going to be, soo... now they are broke again.

"Wash, where is my damn spaceship?"

Put that on the list as # 147 notable things that I missed while watching the DVDs over and over. Speaking of Bushwhacked, I love how that sequence was filmed when the crew was getting questioned. From Zoes tight lipped attitude to Wash's wide open " have you ever been with a warrior woman? ". Hi-larious. But of course, nothing beats Jayne and his arms-folded/not-saying-a-word response.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

Yes indeed, it's where we want to be.

I meant not to step on toes or anything, but as El Jefé Magnifico de la ThisLand Brownitopia, I felt it was mine own civical dutelage to ensurify the correctality of the soon-to-be populations' pronuncification of Serenity's appelationage....

... I need to stop watching Don King interviews...

Don King eh?

Here I was thinking I wasn't the only one that actually bought an Official Doublespeak Dictionary.

Always whacky fun to use in Scrabble and watch the "huh" thing happen.
