Sneaky Zeek:)

Rugbug- aww I know you miss your boy, but I also know how guilty you feel when you aren't properly working a horse. HUGS

Sadly it is 3 am most times Johnny comes in... kinda zombified at this point as he's had a cold all week and keeps coming in

I like netflix streaming too much to let go...and I use the rental thing to get odd documentaries for my students so I figure it's a reasonable expense considering that it's used daily in our house ( Johnny is a huge fan of Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot about That)...

BTW Martin Short is the voice in teh Cat in The Hat and it's made it hard to watch HIMYM because I keep expecting him to do flips or such

Aren't the terrible two's fun? I've gotten about 6 hours of sleep for the last week. I'm right there with ya. It's not like I can't sleep through Maddox's crying fits at 3am, because I certainly can. It's my wife's fist/foot/knee contacting between my shoulder blades that wakes me up. And once I'm awake, I'm done for for the rest of the night. Ugh.

For comparison's sake, imagine that bag of Doritos shuffling into your room and then having to put it back from whence it came. All the while, it's crying and refusing to go back on it's shelf.

Now in that scenario, you can just eat the bag and be satisfied with a full stomach and peace and quite in your home. We, with two year olds, don't have that luxury.

Ah, the joys of parenthood.

Two great things about parenting two year olds:
Thing 1: There are sooooo many other people doing it or who have done it, sometimes multiple times that can give you advice about what worked for their little ones.

Thing 2: They will be three soon enough and will eventually grow out of whatever they're doing that is difficult.

I know that doesn't solve the immediate sleep deprivation problem. I know I have some trouble when I'm not getting enough sleep, in college I wondered if there was yet something else wrong with my body and brain because I couldn't stay awake when I sat down, even fell asleep in a movie theater twice, embarassing, but fortunately six months of not working after graduating fixed my sleep problem.

I know it isn't that easy for you guys though since you don't get six months break from the little ones.

I have TWO Family Videos within walking distance from me.

They're the only brick and mortar survivors of the NetFlix era.

Any Blockbuster or Hollywood you walked into only had 200 movies and about 100 copies of each movie. FV, in contrast, has about 3,000 movies to choose from.

AWESOME video store!!!!

If there is something that I absolutely cannot find for free to download online, chances are, FV has it waiting for ya!

And yes.... I'm applying there next week, so I'm putting my plug in right now

That makes for a good ponder. Where is the place you'd most like to work if you got an employee discount? I'm ruling out Amazon because that's too easy. They sell everything.

For me it would be newegg. Even though I don't buy computer parts often I still love to drool over all the new speedy stuff. If I had a customer discount I bet I'd buy way too much.

If we can't do online places then I'd go with Fry's. It's basically the store version of newegg with slightly worse prices.

Based on the discounts alone I'd want to work at one of my favorite resturants, I have many, because I love eating and discounted resturant food makes me happy. Either that or Disneyland, because rides are fun. But that isn't in my city, so a yummy resturant like Pizza Catto or Red Robin will have to do. Food is my only money spending weakness, ... oh wait, how about working for the airport and getting discounted plain tickets? Does that count within the parameters of the question, because if it does then I might shift to that.

If you asked me that question 3 months ago, I would have said Lowes, but I'm really hoping that most of my big purchases there are out of the way for a long while........

Plus....

I have had a few people there asking me how I get stuff so cheap there lol.....

It's funny to me that Lowes was the only place I put in an application that had the decency to tell me "NO" before even giving me an interview (I just didn't get any replies yet anywhere else).....

Yet....

I'm schooling the employees that they can use their 10% employee discount and also stack the 5% Lowes card discount on top of it if they pre-order everything online. If you try that on the store, you only get the higher discount.

You don't even have to work at Lowes to get the measly 10% discount..... Just go to the Post Office and request a change of address packet and you get one.

Plus... if you use the card in the store, they take it from you and tear it up. If you buy online, you have at least several days to use it again before they void the number. My guess is they process the used numbers every week or so....... so..... don't be so quick to rip up that card after you use it. If you wake up the next morning saying "DRAT.... I wish I bought that!", like I have often done, you don't have to run to the post office for another coupon. Chances are the one you used yesterday is still valid.

Newegg is definitely a great choice, as is any food place. I love my outdated electronics and a full belly.

That may be due to incompetence rather than common decency. My manager just found out this morning that our HR department didn't bother the tell the guy they didn't hire for my job that he wasn't getting the job. I've been here since the start of May and knew for about 3 weeks before that. So, that guy just had to catch the drift apparently. Though I can't imagine he wanted the job too badly if he never contacted anyone to find out what was going on.

Most places around here don't bother to tell you if you don't get a job.

Unless they state otherwise, it's better to assume you won't hear about an unsuccessful application. Well, it's better for them, it is very frustrating for those looking to find work.

With regards to the ponder about employment based on discounts... I like the newegg idea, but if you rule out online places I can't really think of a decent bricks and mortar alternative around here. I'd have to just pick Game or somewhere like that. Get my videogames on the cheap.

They actually contacted me two days later to say they were looking at other candidates. I'm kind of surprised that I got any response at all since I applied online to like 20 other places and never hear anything.

No problem....

Just make sure you buy the stuff online if you want to stack the discounts. If you buy it in the store you'll only get 10% off.

Although.... If you don't pay your stuff off right away, you can get something like 6 interest free months using the Lowes card and still get the 10% off in the store.

Yeah they need to just cut Ted from the show. Or maybe the writers need to go back to season 1 and look at what Ted was like. Maybe they need to notice how he wasn't just a pathetic, whinny, super dork. He was just a hopeless romantic who was over the top at times. Bah!

Well I've also heard that if you buy Lowes cards you automatically get the 10% discount with them. I can't verify that as true personally, and I don't know if it will stack with the 5% credit card discount online.

But I'd love to know!

Would be great to not have to drop into random post offices on a weekly basis to get the change of address packets anymore.

Poor little kaylee cat had a bad night last night. I have no idea what happened. She was sleeping peacefully in my warm pile of laundry that needed to be folded. I went to make dinner. She got up and was milling around. I got her to give her fluids and she was much more upset than usual even hissing at me. I didn't put up with that and gave her the fluids anyway. She wouldn't sit the way she normally does and kept trying to lay on her side. Then when I went to sit and eat dinner she climbed (not jumped) into my lap and was shaking. It was pretty freaky. I was trying to decide if she needed to go to the vet right away or if I should wait. I waited it out a bit. Couldn't really eat as she decided to rest her head on my arm. Eventually she stopped shaking and fell asleep.

No idea what the heck happened but she's definitely trying not to walk on her back left leg. She's just limping around but she's eating and getting around a bit. I'm hoping she just sprained something and will heal up. Poor kitty.

As for the ponder obviously I do have a pet. I've always liked animals. I think to me they just seem like they have pure intentions. I don't think they conspire to be mean. They just are who they are and if you accept that then you can usually get along.

Kaylee update is that she's acting like nothing happened now. She was tearing around the apartment last night on kitty emergencies (that's what I call it when they're like "I need to run around for no apparent reason"). So, I take it her leg feels fine now.
