Hello Browncoats!

My employer told me that I worked so good last week I earned myself a 3 day weekend, and I thank them for it.

Anyhoo, just because I wasn’t working for a paycheck the past 3days doesn’t mean there wasn’t any work to do. I still have plenty of chores to do around the old homestead. I was, however able to head out to the movie theater Friday afternoon to catch “ Rise of the Planet of the Apes” & “Conan the Barbarian” . Both were good, although RPA was better.

So what else happened? Well I saw Fanboys for the first time on tv and really enjoyed it. I really like a movie like that, that doesn’t take itself too serious. Also, just caught a flick on Sy/Fy called “Bloodsuckers” . My opinion? Looks like it was made out of somebody’s garage. What were they thinking?

This isn’t a new Sy/Fy series. Looks like it came along in 2005. Kind of a Firefly meets Buffy type of thing. If I weren’t a science fiction fan already, then this for sure would kill any desire to become one. Anyway. Looks like a show called “Ginger Snaps” comes next. I have seen that one before, if you get a chance, check it out. It’s pretty dark….but it’s good.

I really enjoyed Fanboys too. It's not perfect but it made me laugh plenty. Have you seen Free Enterprise? That's a good fun geek comedy - again with Shatner but also the guy from Will and Grace long before he was Will.

Howdy DJD!

Yepper Fanboys had me laughing so loud that my spouse came to see what was so funny. After the show I looked it up on the web and was surprised at the poor reviews it received. I guess everyone has there own likes and dislikes. I do believe I will be adding it to my ever growing number of geekdom movies. Guess I am quite the fan boy myself, at what point does one become a fan man?……lol

Anyhoo, I haven’t seen Free Enterprise but I will check it out, thanks!

Also in Fanboys there are a number of Trek and Star Wars folk that make guest appearances, and the girl’s name is Zoe……I really had to smile when I heard that.

Lastly, I haven’t seen it mentioned here but during the previews at the theater the other day there was an advertisement for a new “ THING” movie coming out. Looks like it could be pretty good, but they will have to do some heavy acting & CG to top John Carpenter’s version ( JMO).

That was my feeling about a remake of The Thing... why would you remake something that was so good? The creature still gives me the creeps and I don't see that CGI will improve on that. It's a super film and best left alone I'd say.

Free Enterprise is a hoot. If you're a scifi fan and into Trek at all you should like it (oh and its cheap to buy too!).
