(there - never done spoilers before)
When Angel asks Gun what he said when he was offered freedom from Limbo by the senior partners, Gun responded, "You have to ask me that?"
Angel replied, "I really do."

Is that a Mal quote? I'm pretty sure it's close - perhaps when he asks Jayne what he said to the Alliance agent in Serenity?

I could be wrong :)

Well it was written by Ben Edlund...it would make sense he would write in a similar way since he has written for both shows.... And how cool is Adam Baldwin! I just think he is so cool!

Your thinking of "I really don't"

Said from Mal to Bester the mechanic after bester asks why mal would need two mechanics.

"You gone got yourself lookin' mighty hideous" ~Jayne

Also, Angel said something to Illyria about this not being the time for "speechifying."

I usually find time-travel/time-loops/fractures-in-the-space-time-continuum/etc. stories tedious, but I think they did quite a good job with the story, pacing and the visual effects. Kudos to Ben Edlund!

You caught the "speechifying" thing too? I got a kick outta that.

Seems on Buffy, to make it slayer-speak you added "age" (i.e. "slayage") and for Firefly it's "ing" (i.e. "creepifying").

Any language mods for Angel???

Another Fireflyish term that was used in tonight's episode was the reference to "sussing out" information. Something Mal said Kaylee in "Out Of Gas". I believe he said "That's why I need you to suss out what's wrong with the engine".

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Bout fell outta my chair at the 'speechifying' line!

Yep, suss is a 'British'ism' meaning to think or work out a problem. And can mean: to study thoroughly to gain more knowledge.

I love it when writers mix slang from different countries.

Nighttrain - you're almost certainly right - I always did like that Mal line to Bester.

It was a good episode, I would agree - very, very well written and paced. It's just a shame that it's one of the last - I think the character development on Ilyria would have been much more important in the context of an ongoing show...sigh...

Actually, that one was used before Firefly.

From "Once More With Feeling:"
Quote:

SPIKE: The time you suss out what you do want, there'll probably be a parade. Seventy-six bloody trombones.

Also (not really worth a new thread), I was just reading Transformers: Annihilation (not quite as horrible as Hardwired, but still not recommended), and caught another Firefly reff.

At one point, Soundwave (the blue Decepticon communicator, with the flanged monotone voice that sounds like a chorus of Gregorian monks) corrected Starscream on something he got wrong. Soundwave's phrase: "Not so much."

Kinda fitting, after Jazz quoted Willow's infamous "Bored now." In Hardwired.

I'm half-expecting an Angel reference in Fusion (already out, just haven't gotten to it yet).

1) suss - to look for more information
2) 'sus' the is also 'sus' as in suspect

as in it is a bit sus.

Just to add to the confusion.
Depends on context :)
