I've had all my finals. Official last day of the semester is tomorrow, but the last final I had to take was yesterday. I think my school started earlier than most, and we also had spring break earlier than most.
The end of this semester was pretty brutal for me; three of the four classes I was taking had presentations as part of the final. I do not like talking in front of people. There were also a lot of tests crammed in at the end. Is that normal? It hasn't been for me, but I haven't been in the most normal of curriculums until this year, and the end of the term just seemed to sneak up on everybody. Went from having tests every three weeks or so to a test every week. I'm really glad I knew at least one of my presentations from the start and could plan ahead of time, because those also seemed to sneak up and give me a couple weeks or less to prepare them. I literally threw one of them together in the course of an afternoon. This does not bode very well for the accelerated courses over the summer. I tried to keep two of my classes nice and fluffy so I could focus on the math. Hopefully I won't end up doing presentations in those...
I think I'll spend the next two weeks napping before I have to start up again. Might have to bug the financial aid office, though. Bah.
Oh, and I'll also have to go out and celebrate with Japanese food, but that should be more fun than bugging people for money.

Hope Johnny's feeling better, Lila. Poor guy. I thought repeated exposure was supposed to make the body more resistant, this thing must be nasty.

What reason had proved best ceased to look absurd to the eye, which shows how idle it is to think anything ridiculous except what is wrong.

Hopin' to make D*C this year. Should have the coin, but findin' a room may present a problem since word has it all the hotels have been booked up since Dec or Jan.

Rosie.. hugs and good luck:) It's some kind of virus

HUGS Rose... ooh good luck sweety. I know you'll kick butt!!!

Whoo for Marion the Librarian.... ok just kidding sweety:) I'm happy for you.

In Nevada, there are a number of courses you have to take to get certified as a school librarian, but if you want a high school library, having a MLIS really helps. Other states require you to have one.
I finished my MLIS in December. (Actually, Firefly arrived in the mail the very last week of grad school. I almost didn't get my paper finished because watching Firefly was so much more fun- how did this show ever get cancelled?!).

Ah, yes. Marion the librarian. You've never been to a party with a bunch of librarians, have you?

To quote Michael Moore:

"I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous group. They are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them.

We subversive librarian-types like showing students how to find things online, (like which books are banned and should therefore be read ASAP), and how to look up the tax returns of politicians (it's interesting - and fun! - to find out where their money comes from.) And we can show them reference sources for their papers that they never dreamed existed, not to mention, get them to read for the fun of it.

I love my job.

My librarian friends are fun people. Crazy in a good way, and almost a little scary sometimes, but fun!

They take care of books and safeguard knowledge, it is a sacred calling IMO. (I am sooo jealous! But I suck at keeping track of stuff. )

DONE. I AM DONE WITH THE SEMESTER.
(Okay except for one student who didn't put their name on their final exam and I have to make sure it's them. After that I'm done.)

oooh what courses...tell me more. HUGS Green:)
Oh I know librarians are trouble...just like teachers.
The school I used to teach at got a grant to do our pre-school meetings at a hotel in Park City and we got kicked out. Apparently they weren't expecting a group of teachers to be so " rowdy" LOL.
Anyone who has never been a teacher assumes we're all like we behave in class. Rule bound, serious etc... HAHAHAHA

Actually I'm a fan of Wednesdays, or as I like to call them "Hump Day". When I return from lunch on Hump Day my work week is officially more than half over and I am on the down hill side. Figure I am shiny after that point.

Now of course making it to that point can be a challenge. My new job, overseeing 16 people, is akin to herding retarded kittens, high on cat nip. On a good day. Bad day? Well, that's something altogether different.

Ah, cat herding...

Been there, done that, cleaned the litter box.

MsA: Johnny's got years to learn the whole "brat" thing. Mine's still pretty good, but we've got some surly teenager creeping in around the edges. Boy gets a little fuzz on his lip and suddenly he thinks he's man enough to sass me. OH No..no no no, we are NOT going there yet. (He's still cute and a sweetie most of the time. We have not outgrown hugs, although they are occasionally at 90-180 degree angles these days.)

That's Pi/2 to Pi radians. See? I learned something this semester!

LOL a little sass I don't mind... it's the screaming obscenities at me at the top of your lungs while attempting to throw desks around my room... or trying to use your lighter to set me on fire while my back is turned... or coming to class high and trying to assault my assistant... or attempting to sexually assault a teacher in the teacher's bathroom... or continuously talking at top volume while I am talking, giving instructions, etc and when corrected telling me to f off then fake punching me in the head repeatedly... or
I could keep going on and on.That's more or less what I mean by bratty behavior.

As you can tell, it's been a lovely week.

On today's roster..
One kid came late, pitched a tantrum when I wouldn't let him talk over me during instruction then stormed out of class because I wouldn't let him ride his skateboard around the room.
Another kid paid a 3rd kid to leave our closed campus to buy him snacks and both were tardy. (kid with money is dealing on campus and as soon as I find out where his stash is, I'm busting him)

skateboarding..'cause you can wicked thrash in a small level room..

As for the stash.. have you checked his band locker?
Seriously, a thought: could he be having someone else hold for him.. maybe intimidating them into it? (Not that I'm implying he's anything less than a perfect angel and a budding entrepreneur, buut...)

Sorry it's a crap day already.

If it makes you feel better we're having house issues seven days before we're supposed to close per the contract. Whee. (We may or may not be looking at starting the process all over again.)

I'm going to start looking at realty websites again just to see if I can intimidate the bad-house-juju-demons into backing down. Prolly not and these things happen for a reason, right?

(edit)

AAAAnnnd now the house isn't happening. One more thing came up and it was a dilly. This isn't going to be fun or pretty, and we're likely to be out about $2K for a repair that needed doing which we were going to reimburse them at closing. (Someone's gonna fight like a mother for that one I'm betting..)
Here's hoping they don't sue us because they couldn't comply with perfectly reasonable demands we made at the outset, and now the house isn't sold.
As a special bonus: none of the houses we were looking at before are still available so it's square one again. Fuck.
And I'm leaving town in two weeks. For over a month. And can't get back to sign paperwork. Which means that Doctroid's going to have to deal with it on his tod if we don't find summat quick.

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Okay, a large virtual beer and I'll be fine.. right? (Hops behind the bar, lies down under the Guinness spigot and turns on the tap whilst gargling "Tiny Bubbles".)

I will cross my fingers and everything that you'll find something lovely and wonderful right this minute. I wish I could do more
House hunting/buying/ etc SUCKS!!!!!

And now on to the show... in todays episode my little sexual predator continues his ongoing spew of sexually inappropriate topics ( strangely while hopping up and down in his chair...pretty sure his over tight girl jeans are gonna fall off again....)
My hostile girl is on a roll about oversharing her social life.... 'cause I so wanted to know about how she almost cheated on her boyfriend
Luckily my little banger is quietly working away:) Gotta love gang bangers. Outside of school they are a danger to themselves and others, but here quiet as a lamb and on task:)
