recently watched the remake of battlestar galactica(that dragged on for what seemed forever..it does have potenial though)anyway seeing as the good ship serenity had a brief cameo in this remake has anyone thought of doing a sort of crossover between the two shows, and yes i know galactica and firefly arent in the same verse.one idea for a crossover serenity attacked by cylons. another idea galactica do that jump thing and end up in fireflys verse only thing though cylons fleet have come through as well. like ive said an idea but if anyone can come up with a decent crossover do it..do it (now ive turned into starsky..arrgghh)right im going.

well, not enough people up that early to respond, I suppose...
but personally?
I can't see it...I'm sorry.

Joss is determined that his Universe has no aliens and all these other Sci-fi shows are totally married to their aliens...the very idea of cylons showing up and messing up Joss' carefully constructed power structure (Gov/Military/Corporate power ruling over 'colonies' of humans... with a few renegades like our Firefly crew trying to live apart and free..) would make me sad.

Just to clarify, the new Battlestar Galactica has no "aliens" either. The Cylons were created by humans and then rebelled.

"Wacky fun..."

OK its my own damn fault i meant a crossover as a FAN FICTION seeing as serenity had a small cameo in the battlestar remake..the ideas cylon attack / galactica jump at the end of my post where meant as ideas for fan fiction not live action just to clear all that up.

Sure, why not.

Serenity encounters Galctica and inspires Mal to pursue training as a Jedi so that he can finally find his long lost father, Captain Picard, during a war with the Zentradi/Shadow alliance for control of an Alertnate Earth where Robots have replaced Man.

Work in a few Vampires and a brief love affair with a cyborg from the future and you have a movie sure to make everyone's head explode.

I think the two shows could exist in the same universe, but not the same time. Sorta like a Buffy/Fray universe.

BSG/FF Timeline:

Earth gets used up (FF).
New worlds terra-formed and colonized (FF)
New worlds advance in technology, Earth-that-was forgotten except in myths (BSG/FF)
New worlds create Cylons, Cylon war (BSG)
Cylons destroy new worlds, BSG searches for mythic Earth (BSG)

It fits together really well as a timeline, but unfortunately doesn't allow the characters to interact. Maybe if you threw in some time travel, or the FF crew was put in cryo to later be found by the BSG crew. That could work.

Another possibility is that the BSG people left Earth long before it was used up, so the people of Earth forgot about them and vice versa.

The real problem is that the themes for the two shows are different. FF is more picaresque: surviving by your wits in a corrupt society. BSG doesn't have that. They're not surviving in a corrupt society; they ARE society.

For example, Mal might say to them, "I don't answer to anyone...I find what jobs I can and keep flying."
The BSG people would reply, "Who cares? These robots are trying to kill us!"

Doesn't really work, thematically. ;)
