I know I am showing my age a bit, but I came across Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" while watching 'The 80s Strike Back'.

After listening to it I realized it was almost tailor made for Firefly. I am not really a fan of Bon Jovi, but this was sorta cool.

Without further ado, some of the lyrics {if not all}...

Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi
It's all the same, only the names will change
Everyday it seems we're wasting away
Another place where the faces are so cold
I'd drive all night just to get back home

Chorus:
I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive

Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days
And the people I meet always go their separate ways
Sometimes you tell the day
By the bottle that you drink
And times when you're all alone all you do is think

Chorus

I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back
I play for keeps, 'cause I might not make it back
I been everywhere, still I'm standing tall
I've seen a million faces an I've rocked them all

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive
I'm a cowboy, I got the night on my side
I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive

"Remember, there is only ONE absolute - There ARE NO absolutes!!!"

Eerie.

I didn't watch the show you're talking about, but I had the same thought while I was out running yesterday.

Especially the "steel horse" and "wanted dead or alive" parts.

Some of the guitar work near the end of TTJ seems especially reminiscent of the song, too; I'm thinking mostly of the "Western moment" just after they hand the medicine back over to the sheriff.

And I don't even like Bon Jovi

P.S. Wasn't this song composed for the "Young Guns" soundtrack?

Actually, I don't think it is from Young Guns II -- that was Blaze of Glory, wasn't it?

Yeah, Young Guns 2 had "Blaze of Glory" and "Wanted Dead or Alive" was just an album song.

Ahh cool. I too have had similar thoughts after hearing that come up on the radio a while back but alas I didn't know who did it or what it was called. (goram radio stations don't tell you what they're play'n so much anymore)

On a similar note I just watched Punisher this sunday night and the song that Harry Heck sings (yeah, that's his name) is great. Thinking about picking up a disck with it on there to do a Firefly music vid of my vary own. Here's the artist and title

"Mark Collie - In Time"

Here you can listen to a short clip of the song:

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I have always thought "Wanted Dead or Alive" would be a great fit for Firefly. It has a very western feel to it.
