I was curious as to how he'd respond, but I can't say I'm surprised.

I wonder if people were actually trying to send him money in one way or another, though, lol.

I think he might clarify his thoughts about this even more in the Nerdist question/interview he's doing this weekend.
At least I hope so. *sigh*

GAK- I hope folks aren't sending him actual cashy money. That'd be awful.

Sometimes I wonder about the sanity of browncoats. I'm just sayin.

I thought it was pretty obvious from the start that Nathan wouldn't want any part in this type of campaign. If Firefly comes back it will go through official channels.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I thought it was pretty obvious from the start that this campaign is more about awareness than cash. Cash is just the lure on the hook to get the fish to bite. It says, "Well, if people care enough to invest cash in this thing, maybe it's worth looking into a bit more..."

You'll have to pardon Zeek. He's been upset by this all week.

psssh the revisionist history is just silly. "No one actually believes Nathan" *website and campaign begins* "We're going to do the impossible!" *Nathan shoots it down* "We weren't really trying" mhmmm

Maybe I should start a campaign for browncoat patience and taking of deep breaths. Maybe then we wouldn't have so many of these failed websites under our belts. It doesn't look all that good IMO.

I tried to send him a million dollars, but I couldn't find where I put it.

Yeah, kinda like calling guesses and enthusiasm "revisionist history".

Kinda funny when you accuse others of that which you are guiltiest of.

And really - maybe you need to take a breath. You seem oddly bothered by other people's enthusiasm - which effects your life not one little bit.

It's funny how blustered and enthusiastic we Browncoats get when our Captain makes a remark or talks about a problem he's had. Remember the comic book incident? Man was that a ride.

There are things I hate about Fox (like canceling Firefly, and actually paying people like Beck and O'Reilly), but there are things I love about Fox, too (like Fringe, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Lights Out, Archer, The League, It's Always Sunny..., etc.)

Seems logical and reasonable for Nathan to tweet in such a way as to quietly say no but still say Browncoats are cool, very diplomatic.

What did I revise? I didn't like this campaign from the start. I said there was no way Nathan would approve and he doesn't.

edit: also this will effect us when Nathan stops making cute Firefly comments in interviews because he knows there will be people who fly off the handle.

Well, you reference my comment about no one believing it - which was a wrong guess.... not changing history. Basically, those things you list as revisionist history are examples of people jumpin the gun, guessing wrong, or just being over-enthusiastic. Saying that they were done to revise history is untrue, and is an actual example of someone revising history to fit their narrative.

That's just miscommunication. I only meant the last part to be revisionist. The "we weren't really trying" part. Yeah right people weren't trying.

"We" is a big word. Seems most folks around here were just glad FF made the news. How many here actually sent money?

But yeah, clearly some folks took it waaaay too seriously.

To be fair, the site was only asking for pledges and hadn't started taking money yet.

If they had confirmed that Jose Molina and Jane Espenson were backing them, I would've tossed them a few dollars myself. I was waiting to hear if they had attracted the attention of official support.

Yeah, clearly Fillion doesn't give a crap.

Whilst people like Patrick Rothfuss are wiling to donate big amounts of money.

The campaign should remove Filion from the name.

I'm assuming we can still post about this here - as opposed to whedonesque where they just delete all messages - being the Firefly haters they are.

Yes, you can still post here if you like, its a free forum, I see that you have very vehiment feelings about it. Some people were really excited about the idea, some were skeptical, lots of varying opinions. I leaned more towards the skeptical side of things but I know many people were really plugging for it to work. You can post here if you like.

I'm not saying it will work. I'm just saying that's what I think fans should do. Be fans. Let the studios be studios, the networks be networks and the producers be producers. It may not get us what we want but I don't think trying to take over the role of other people is going to work.
