Not sure what this means. I may be having to much enthusiastic and positive feelings about this, but do you guys/gals think that they might be feeling out the ratings for a possible comeback?

They had Firefly on the new OVATN channel last month too, they show it on scifi periodically too.

It is my very favorite show, but isn't the science channel for discovery channelesque things? that has always been my understanding, so I'm surprised that they would show a scifi show on there, seems odd to me.

If Larry the Cable Guy can have a show on the History Channel, I have no problem whatsoever with the Science Channel airing Firefly!

So, they're going to air the actual show, not do a show about the science of Firefly?

Weird.

Not very likely. Not a channel that would have the funds to relaunch anything. More likely they're airing it because it's cheap.

'Science Channel will wrap each episode with interstitial segments starring renowned physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, who will discuss the theoretical science behind the show’s sci-fi concepts.'

Seriously?

Too awesome!

I'm entirely excited by this. Not sure I'll be home for them all, though. Might have to utilize the DVR.

I love Dr. Kaku. He's very good at explaining science in layman's terms and isn't afraid of science fiction.

"On Dec. 1, 2009, he began hosting a 12-episode weekly TV series for the Science Channel at 10 pm, called "Sci Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible," based on his best-selling book. Each 30 minute episode discusses the scientific basis behind such imaginative schemes as: time travel, parallel universes, warp drive, star ships, light sabers, force fields, teleportation, invisibility, death stars, and even superpowers and flying saucers. Each episode includes interviews with the world's top scientists working on prototypes of these technologies, interviews with sci fi fans, clips from science fiction movies, and special effects and computer graphics. Although these inventions are impossible today, the series discusses when these technologies might become feasible in the future" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michio_Kaku

I had never seen the show back when it was on Fox (no surprise there...I had barely even heard about it). But I did see the Sci Channel commercials, so I decided to dvr the pilot.

Now I am HOOKED, totally and completely, and I cannot wait for next Sunday. I've seen the Pilot and The Train Job (and downloaded Serenity on the PSN) and I am in love. What a fantastic show!

I cannot believe it only lasted one season. Just shows you that good sci fi rarely lasts as long as we'd like. Remember Farscape? That, to me, is the only show that can be regarded on the same level as Firefly in terms of quality and entertainment value. And SyFy dropped that pretty unceremoniously after only 4 seasons.

And yet SyFy finds room in their lineup for barely-B-movies like Sharktopus and Mansquito. Unbelievable. Someone needs to give this show a second chance!

Welcome, browncoats.

Nice SNs btw.

There's lots of firefly fandom here, including tons of fanfic I haven't read.

I concur on Farscape. Awesome show, similar idea. It's like taking the idea of Blake's 7, and putting a real production behind it.

Saw the trailer for next week's episode.

Creeeeepy.

It's crazy to see new trailers for ep's you've seen and know so well.

Puts a shiny new spin on things.

Kudos!

EDIT: Oops, wait a minute. Huh. That's not the FOX episode order, but it is confusing.

Well, at least some of the important storylines are mostly in order so there won't be spoilers. Objects in Space is after Heart of Gold, Safe is after Shindig, and Jaynestown, Ariel, and War Stories are also in order.

Well, it will play to the end of the television season, which is ideal for a plug for a second season.

Really what's needed for a second season is Nathan, Summer and Sean. Everyone else is *technically* expendable. So, even if we might miss them, or be jarred by Sarah Jessica Parker as the ship's engineer ;) I think that really anyone who can't make it could just be replaced with some explanation of what their character is doing.

I trust Joss (to some extent) He created these characters, he can create some more. I think the toughest person to get ahold of will be Summer. If they don't have those three, it will become a different story, but it might still be Firefly ;)

It's true, not only do I have faith Joss could pull just about anything off that can be acted, but also that the characters who are not expendable are Mal, Simon, and River.

I also have faith that he probably wouldn't take it too wrong and awful a direction so long as there isn't too much romance.

For those people who are bothered by certain events, we can retcon everything that came before as visions River was having and start over fresh. Some of those visions may have had oddities, such as not being accurate representations of appearance (a different actor playing the character).

We could even have a storyline where River prevents some of the tragedy that will come to pass. This way people will be happy when the series continues past the point of the movie.

Also, he could add some Asians and futuristic Native American tribesmen and women main characters in this time. Just saying. It IS a western.

That was the production order, and could possibly have been the original broadcast order if the series had continued longer. Joss felt OiS was the best way to end it, both on the air and on the DVDs.

I'll take the show any way I can get it at this point. I just KNOW I'm going to be seriously upset when it's over. I'm ALMOST sorry I started watching it because I know how short a ride it's going to be :(

Obviously this isn't something the Science Channel will do, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone else will see what the show can do when it's aired and promoted properly, and will maybe take notice.

Have to think though, if the Science Channel did pick Firefly up, it'd be their highest rated show by far. Hell, I'd upgrade my cable package just to watch it!

Of course we want kaylee back, and jayne too, but the show doesn't have to alter its storyline if they're gone. If simon and river or mal are gone, they need a new storyline.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.
