I have looked through "Shindig" frame by frame and I can't spot the Han Solo in Carbonite toy. Does anyone know where it is hidden in that episode?

You're looking in the wrong episode. Instead, look at The Message:
There is a little "Han Solo encased in carbonite" plastic figure in the engine room next to Kaylee's hammock as she listens to Tracy's recorded message. This is according to Bloopers at www.browncoats.com/index.php?ContentID=42e6e0aad9f9b

I know about that one, and the one in Heart of Gold and Jaynestown, but I read that the cast and crew managed to hide it in every episode, so I was looking for it in the other eps.

I give you an A+ for Attention To Detail. You should tell us where these other Han Solo's you have found are. The minute and second into the episode would be nice and where on the screen to look.

On second thought, don't tell us. Instead, show us by posting screen captures of each time Han is on screen. That's because I'm too hopelessly lazy to jump around in all those DVDs.

I made an example of Han Solo in Carbonite at 17 min, 37 sec into The Message:

Thanks, Two, but I haven't found them yet. I've just started looking. This is strictly a "things to do on vacation when I am avoiding house and/or yard work" kind of hobby.

This thread could become a “Where's Han Solo?” thread. If many episodes have a hidden “Han Solo in Carbonite,” then Browncoats could pool their knowledge of where and, especially, when Han is visible. We're doing this for posterity! We are not killing time!

And it would be nice to have screen captures posted here of all the places in Firefly to find Han Solo in Carbonite.

It's larger than I thought it would be.

In the episode (Bushwacked) where Simon & River were hiding from the Alliance on the outside of the ship, when they came back on board, they put a helmet down on something by the entrance to the dining commons, and I thought I saw it there, but I'm at work, so I can't check.

Agreed.

Next to Kaylee's hammock, sure. But in the background, off in the distance, and not even well lit ? No one can be expected to be THAT much of a geek.

NO ONE !

Don't forget the chicken, either - I think it was in one of the early episode commentaries they mentioned sneaking the chicken into every, or almost every, episode...

But that coulda been just snark.

The number A113, used in Pixar films, has a wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A113
This original research by Mutt999 is far more worthy of a wiki page. I won't be doing it, but the page could be added at www.fireflywiki.org or http://firefly.wikia.com
Or even at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28TV_series%29 where a footnote, pointing here, could be added!
The screen captures are the definitive scientific proof of the eerie presence of Han Solo.

Serenity (Pilot):(19:27). Hey! Look what Badger has on his shelf!

To sum up, we found Han in:

The Message
Heart of Gold
Jaynestown
Objects in Space
Out of Gas
Serenity (Pilot)

Also, the 'Serenity by Gaslight' photo.

wasting some time on the internet, I found that by noe there are way more blogs "reporting" on Han being found on Serenity, one article called it "the coolest new meme on the internet" even a german blog (not mine) has it. strangely enough, not a single one mentions this thread here or links to it. Only ever the geekfemme.blogspot one.

I'm a little sleep-and-chocolate deprived, so blame it on that and pms for getting me pi.. ticked off when normally I would think "whatevs", but did this here thread not start a good week before the blogentry?

I know I sound like a total B*** right now. There has been a PMS warning issued for this week....

Well, it seems to me the thing to do is to find him in the remaining episodes before everyone else does. Maybe if we collectively searched one episode at a time?

I've been searching "Ariel" and thought I perhaps spotted Han on the wall in the room where River was getting her brain scan. Curse my lack of a high def TV.

My old cruddy TV does the same, although I have the contrast and brightness turned up to help with the dark corners (I think Han Solo has to be on the Reaverized ship they explore on "Bushwacked" - so many dark nooks and crannies to hide him in)

Nodding in agreement. I used to be a Trekkie. Sigh. Now I wonder how there could ever not have been a universe where a person couldn't go down to the Used Ship Lot and buy themselves a Firefly.

I mean honestly, do they have pilots than can outfly the raevers by not even holding on to the steering wheel? no they dont! lol. they have to make up for it with fancy aliens for not having "The Wash", Master of Dinosaurs and Lord of This Land.
I lent my dvd set with the german track on it to my nephew since he keeps insisting his english isnt good enough. hope to find out on the weekend if he liked it.
gotta get off now and see what i can see.
