I can't even remember what got me to buy the first season DVD set but since then I can't stop watching it. While it doesn't have the same highjinx and comedy spoofs that FF does it has one hell of a story. My brother and I got so hooked on it that when Showtime stopped the re-runs of the first and second season we went online and have been downloading the AVI's. Since then instead of watching it on my 36" large screen I have had to be content with watching the entire 2nd season, at least what has already been aired, on my 21" NEC monitor. Not quite the same but it works for now. Anyway I was just wondering if anybody else has been following it as intently as we have been?

I followed it... via AVI's, as I don't get Showtime. Bought the first season DVD.

Showtime seems to have killed the show, though, they only aired half of the second season over a year after the first ended [and many, many months after season 2 finished] with the promise of airing the rest after the christmas break.

They have yet to appear. Which is fine, we'll get the DVD and it will be all good. JMS has left the show, so any future seasons would not be nearly as good.

S2 is better than S1, and has a satisfactory ending.

I'm also a fan of Jeremiah. I converted a few friends to Firefly with my 2nd dvd set and then lent them season 1 of Jeremiah. Results? More converts. I've only seen the first half of season 2 (damn Showtime), but there is the possibility of hope for the future: http://abyss.hubbe.net/echo/viewtopic.php?t=693

I wish I didn't have to wait until the fall for the rest, but what can you do? LOL!

1.] Who is JMS??
2.] I have talked directly to showtime, bunch of rude and obnoxious bastards with attitudes. The guy I was trying to get information from as to when the series would be starting back up acted like he had much better things to do then find out for me when a TV show was coming on. Granted it is only a TV show and it seems petty but excuse me....

I know I have the number to call for anybody interested but I just can't find it right now.

Your link to the Abyss forum shows that SF might be picking up "Jeremiah". While a lot of people think it is for the better I myself do not agree. Being on Showtime they are able to keep a level of gritty reality within the show to make it more realistic and less Disney. Hence swearing, the brutality, and even the revealing sex scenes.
Now don't get me wrong I am not a swearing, warmonging sex feind. But to the lighter level that these things where included within the series it gave it a much more realistic every day feeling to the show. A gritty reality.

1) J. Michael Straczynski is the writer. He has worked on Babylon 5, Crusade, the Babylon 5 sequal series The Legend of the Rangers, Murder she wrote (we all have to start somewhere!).
He owns the comic Rising Star, which is being (has been?) adapted as a screenplay. He also wrote The amazing spider man for Marvel comics.
He has written a book, The complete book of scriptwriting, as well as being involved in lots of other things.

2) Duh. Why should they be polite to you, a mere mortal when they are so much above you. After all they answer the phones at Showtime. This puts them on the same level as God. (Sad thing is they probably actually believe this)

3) At least you got to see some of series 2. I live in the UK where series 1 bombed. They don't even intend to repeat series 1 let alone show series 2! I guess I shall have to save up and import the Dvd's. What is worse, I had to go out the night the last episode of series 1 was showing so I set the video recorder. Fifteen minutes into the episode we had a power cut!!!!!!

4) Don't hold your breath over the August showing of the second half. Showtime is infamous for abandoning its sci-fi shows.

Well what can you expect with the new rage, Reality TV. I mean with high class television such as this how can a mere series consisting of high budget actors, gorgeous graphics, great special effects and a script that not only keeps you either laughing, crying or screaming at the bad guy but also waiting impatiently for the next episode to appear even compete. I mean look at all the high class reality shows being thrown out, I mean released... Mad, Mad house; My big fat obnoxious fiance; Joe millionaire; Paradise Island (where couples are split up and spend days and nights on carribean islands with opposites not their own- as if relations ships aren't hard enough. Bunch of &&^holes.) I mean look at all this great stuff being put out guys!! This is our highly anticipated future.

I'm still kicking myself for something foolish I did....

I am a big fan of Babylon 5, and so have been curious about Jeremiah. I saw a used copy of the season 1 dvd set at Amoeba Records for $25, and almost bought it, but didn't have the cash on me at the time. When I went back the next week, it was gone, and all the other copies were $70. D'oh!!

I will get this eventually, but I don't have the extra cash right now.

Rising Stars, his Image comic, is about two or three issues from finishing, due to a major dispute. The comic has indeed been optioned for a movie, which will (it seems) have little resembalance to the comice JMS wrote - they had the script re-written behind his back, and he withheld the final few scripts for the comic until he got an apology.

He is doing a similar story with Supreme Power - which is really interesting stuff (its like Ultimates, but grown up and well written).
of other things.
