Wonderfalls Suspended
Posted by Gord Lacey 4/06/2004

Due to a large number of fake accounts created over the past few days we've had to suspend Wonderfalls for a period of time (most likely 1 week). We're sorry fans of the series can't enjoy the show on the Fox network anymore and we hope it will be released on DVD for everyone to enjoy. We'll be going through the accounts and votes created in the past 2 days and deleting the ones created using fake names, or the multiple accounts created by individuals. Votes will not be lost unless they were created using fake names or were multiple accounts.

To download all four episodes of Wonderfalls follow this link:

I wonder why they think the new accounts were bogus.. Could it be because they were new and all came around the same time.. that doesn't prove they were bogus.

I'd imagine they were seeing too many from the same IP addresses

If you have a Firewall on your PC you can't vote until you disable it. So the website can tell if a person is voting form the same PC more than once even if they are using different names and e-mail address. The best thing to do is to spread the word and get other people to vote.

of course that brings up problems. over a longer time two different people can be assigned the same ip. its however unlikely that one person logs off after voting and the next one getting the ip will happen to vote for the same show at the same site within minutes.
but: what if you got friends around? or maybe even poor souls without internet? it would be impossible to tell if one person voted multiple times or if different persons voted from the same pc. thats why voting online is usually a bad idea ,-)

This is completely suspicious.

If your voteing code is that easy to fool you haven't don't it correctly.

This is just TVspeak to cover thier real agenda. Whatever that might be. Always read between the 'news'.

And I gotta wonder - FOX is notorious for putting out moles to post 'positive copy' onto web BBSs to manipulate votes on poles just like this one. Hmm. Not shiny at all.

How do they know if you used a fake name? I always do online, but I gave them real demographic info (I figured it might actually be useful to them) and only voted once.

An even bigger problem is that opponents of the show (for what ever reason) could post double votes in a vindictive attempt to negate any positive votes.

I think it is good that they pick up on the false voting because it means that the web site has more credibility with the studios than what a petition does.
