I hold out hope that there will eventually be enough material for an omnibus. I think they usually run about 350-500 pages, so it's an uphill climb at this point.

What do we have so far?

THOSE LEFT BEHIND (approx 66 pages)
BETTER DAYS (approx 66 pages)
THE OTHER HALF (10 pages?)
FLOAT OUT (26 pages?)
THE SHEPHERD'S TALE (56 pages)
DOWNTIME (8 pages)

That puts us somewhere between 225 and 250. We need at least one more 3-issue miniseries and a few more of these short tales. Come on, Joss!

Wow! That was some unexpected awesome. Is this gonna be a reoccurring thing on USA Today or do they have their own website this is releasing through?

If a newspaper like USA Today were to pick up a firefly episodic I'd buy a frakkin' subscription!

These have all had enough of the stuff that makes Firefly Firefly, that I would be ecstatic if they (TFPTB) chose to go that route on a regular basis, like every month. And then of course they would film all of those once the series started up again.

Well...what about the fan-based comics project that's online right now. Serenity Tales, I mean? Could be enough to generate an omnibus and can't see why the creators wouldn't be up for it unless Fox or Universal or DH acts like hundans

A sleepy winter day in the middle of Serenity: Downtime. Everyone feels the need for a nap because it is so warm and cozy inside the ship and so snowy outside.
What could possibly go wrong to disturb the peacefulness of this scene?

Yes, we should write to someone, but not about the next Serenity comic. We are completely powerless to hurry the creation process on the next comic unless some Browncoat fan is willing to purchase about ten million copies of The Shepherd's Tale to be given away free by Walmart in China. That would get the attention of Dark Horse. Instead, we should start with a smaller letter writing campaign about Inara's speech balloon.

The published comic is on left. I think Inara is too refined to say, "Aw, man." Steakless Kaylee is dejected. . .

Hey good catch!! I too was wondering why Inara would say that, I just kept reading and ignored it. Doesn't really affect much character-wise, but Kaylee definately fits there better. Think I'll take a white out pen to my copy and fix it...There, more better :)

I got stuck on that too. I decided that it was Kaylee saying it. The bubble is just sorta floating out there. It doesn't even seem like it's attached to Inara or anyone.

I caught that, too.
I just assumed it was Kaylee, for the same reasons you gave.
Big thanks for the correction.
I screen-capped the comic and will print it out with the other Serenity web comic I saved.

For pennausamike I made an alternate version of that page with disappointed Kaylee saying “I was promised steak.” I prefer pie in the sky to steak. www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/282700.html

Thanks for download, TWO

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought Zack struggled with capturing Inara’s voice in particular, what little dialog she has, she sounds like a three year old at times and at others, a pendulant teenager. “Me too” “slop” and “Aw man” aren’t phrases she would use. She’s too intelligent, insightful, educated, and articulate to sound like Kaylee’s agreement echo who doesn’t formulate her own opinions.

Maybe next time;)

"Me too" could become "I, also." The phrase "Our finest slop" could become "Textured protein". The art gets Inara's expression -- artificial food makes her frown. What we need is a contest to rewrite Inara's dialog! While we're at it, I want Jayne to say pecker.

Agreed, the facial expressions are there, but the dialog is all wrong.

I’m not very good with writing dialog, but I think you have to look at the overall implications of that scene to get the dialog corrected, which is Mal wouldn't let her or Kaylee get off the ship to get supplies because he thought it too dangerous of an outpost AND he didn't bother to pick them up himself because something went wrong as he tells Wash, disappointing them, we already know Jayne spent some time in local Brothel…so when Kaylee enters, Inara might answer, “the usual, and you know why” and then a dagger eyed look at Mal, and so forth.

The next Serenity form of media needs to have a 'Happy Holidy' theme to it. I don't care whether it's a Web Comic, an Actual Comic, an Animated Episode or just a YouTube video of The Cast&Crew saying "Happy Holidays"! Anything like that would just do good for me.

You asked for a Happy Holiday themed comic and you got it. At the same time I'm solving the problem of how could Kaylee and Book not be seen by Jayne? They hid behind the Christmas tree! All nine pages of my slight revision to Serenity - Downtime (2010) are here:

I can see why there are international misunderstandings. Consider Inara's speech balloon: НИКАКОГО БИФШТЕКСА, ЗНАЧИТ? , which translates to "No steak, eh?" The original is "Aw man. I was promised steak."

Mal: ЗАТОВАРИМСЯ В СΛЕДУІОЩИЙ РАЗ.
