I've done a bit of searching to no avail so here are my questions: When it was announced that U had bought the rights and greenlighted the BDM, did JW (or ME) hint in any way that a tv series might be talked about based on the performance of the BDM?

I remember reading that JW was careful to sell U on the idea of a movie for FF but then, IIRC, there was a thread about U asking JW to rewrite the script (and here's where I'm really fuzzy) so it would be more of a "springboard". Is this wishful remembering on my part?

Or is there a real possibility (albeit not openly discussed by JW or ME) of a tv return? Also, has TPTB made any attempt to squash rumours about a tv return?

TIA for info. My SO was asking me these questions and I couldn't be sure my rose-tinted glasses weren't affecting my answers.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

It was not wishful thinking on your part HHHF. Universal asked Joss to rewrite the original script to act as a springboard for the launch of a television series. That was posted at the OB by Chris B.

I think a new TV series is obviously going to be based on how well the movie does & if Universal thinks there is a place for it on Sci Fi channel.

correct me if im wrong, but the way i remember to have read it was that the script was tieing up some of the many loose ends. maybe joss felt like the movie would be a good chance to clean up a few things and give firefly at least some kind of ending. universal didnt like that and probably with the show in mind asked him to change that.

if thats true it doesnt have to say anything, except maybe, that universal isnt ruling it out.

edit: too late again.. and the above sounds a lot more promising anyway ,-)
