I'll have to tape it, as our older boy is opening in a play that night.

Not that it matters, really, as we're NOT a Nielson family.

It's really a shame but considering the network they're on; one could not have hoped for better treatment.

Personally, I am really enjoying each ep and I'm glad they've moved it off the Friday-Night-Time-Slot-of-Death. It's remarkable that Tru Calling looks like it's headed for a 2nd season while Wonderfalls may just be headed for the rocks.

I used to read the recaps for Tru Calling at www.televisionwithoutpity.com (which, if you've never gone there I highly recommend you check it out) even though I refused to watch the show. The recapper just HATED Tru Calling and he was hilarious in his attacks on it. But that's FOX to a T - keep the idiotic show with bad writing and gaping plot holes and kill off the clever show.

Oh well, can't say we didn't see it coming.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I'll be there Thursday. I have enjoyed the episodes so far, as have my family. Too bad we are not a Nielson family.

Never watched Tru Calling, but the premise didn't really grab me either.

Curious... is Wonderfalls one of those 'God shows'?

Which I'll refuse to watch... last thing I need is some baloney Christian propoganda like Mels' blood sacrifice fetish of the Christ or whatever psychotic mind game... oh I'll stop.

It has not been established whether "God" is the one behind the talking animals or not. It has been raised as a possibility, but I don't think they'll go that route.

Joan of Arcadia is the "God" show. HOWEVER, don't dismiss that as Christian propaganda-----its very nondenominational, and a number of atheists and agnostics (including myself) still like it quite a bit. (Actually, when Joan first started, I ignored it for that very reason.....eventually the glowing reviews convinced me to check it out, and now I've been won over.)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I hope the ratings improved tonight, because in my opinion it was the best episode yet. I was kinda lukewarm on this show at first but I really enjoy it now. Some very clever dialogue tonight, especially from Jaye's sister.

I completely agree that the show is improving. Yesterday's episode was the best. Honestly, I didn't like it too much to start with, but I was thinking while watching it, "Wow, I actually love this show." That's not usually a good sign, but I'm holding out hope for it.

Last night's episode was a good one. I think the writing is getting a bit better, but I think the characters are starting to grow on me a bit as well.

Yep, I concur. At first I felt "Eh, who cares?" but the show has really grown on me. My husband and I both laughed outloud several times during last night's episode.

Unfortunately, I already feel certain that it will be cancelled since I have started to enjoy it.

Worst part is, I can't even blame Fox......for some reason, the public is just blind to the goodness of this show.

I have not seen the ratings yet. Did it bomb? I kind of figured it would going up against two of the most watched shows on tv, new csi and new apprentice. Does anyone know if it built on the lead in audience. It did the only other time it aired on thurs, but I think the apprentice was a repeat and maybe csi as well. Don't give up yet.

Edit: Just saw some basic numbers. Not very good, but at least it did not finish last.

The ratings weren't good... down from the lead-in Tru Calling, and even down from the previous week. Check out the Futon Critic website for details.

ay

Still, it was a good show, and perhaps some average (i.e. casual viewing) folks need a week or two to clue in that it moved.

Wonderfalls may have moved to Thursday but a repeat of Episode 102 is on tonight (Friday) in the original timeslot.

EDIT: This is according to Yahoo TV listings. But I'm confused bacause it says Episode 102 originally aired April 1.

Is this a Yahoo mistake or are the Wonderfall eps airing out of order?

FOX 13 Apr 02 08:00pm
Series/Comedy, 60 Mins.
"Pink Flamingos", Episode #102.
Jaye's father ends up in the hospital after she helps him collect garbage; the muses instruct Jaye to help an old high-school nemesis.

Cast: Caroline Dhavernas, Diana Scarwid, William Sadler, Katie Finneran, Lee Pace, Tracie Thoms, Tyron Leitso.
Producer(s): Bryan Fuller, Todd Holland, Tim Minear.

Original Airdate: April 1, 2004.

According to the Official Site:

101 - Pilot Episode
111 - Karma Chameleon
113 - Wound-Up Penguin
102 - Pink Flamingos

Why are the eps all out of order?

That is the intended order. Since they were filming many months ahead of when the episodes were going to air, they took a look at the series and decided that they needed a couple more episodes between 101 and 102 to help establish the characters/show.

Exec producer Tim Minear (ex FF) posted on another board that they deliberately filmed eps 2 and 3 (prod eps 10 and 12) to fill in some gaps, as noted above. This is where it all went wrong -- I mean, aside from the fact so few people are watching . I've said this elsewhere, so anyone reading this again should be bored, but there was a big change in look and feel between the pilot and next two 'sodes. I thought the pilot was outrageous and high-larious. Then in 'sodes 2 and 3, the energy really fell and the series fell out of sync with the pilot, as if we'd leaped into the future (the family turned into caricatures and Sharon's hair changed, too). Blah, blah, blah . . . Last night's 'sode was a return to the wacky world of slacker Jaye and her equally talented waitress/friend.

And last but not least altho disappointing, those ratings were, well, terrible. Dammit! What the hell are people doing on Thursday night at 9?

Putting any show up against an NBC Thursday is suicide- It's as bad or worse than the Friday night death slot- I've heard several people I work with say they didnt even like 'The Apprentice', but watched it just because it's between Friends and ER and they were too lazy to change the channel- You have to put so-called 'quirky' shows where they can win-
Just an example: You want the attention of 18-35 yr old males? Dont run a show against wrestling, they are watching that; run the show BEFORE wrestling starts, and catch them while they are looking for something to watch before it starts- Same with Wonderfalls- My wife loves the show, but if she has to leave the house and pop a tape in the VCR, she'd get Must See TV every time instead (you cant channel switch with my cable-one reason digital blows)-

Wonderfalls = Young, hip audience, possibly mostly female -You need early in the week- Thurs/Fri = dead show

I think Thursday is at least as good as Friday, highly possibly better, and it is paired with Tru Calling which, in theory, would have some carryover audience. I strongly disagree that Wonderfalls and wrestling have the same audience ;).

However, I also think there are better nights for Wonderfalls. Right now I think the best shot might be Monday at 9 (est). But there are also problems if you jump it around a bunch in the schedule, so for now stick with Thursday for a few weeks and see what happens.

CSI and Apprentice are the big contenders in the current timeslot. Apprentice will be over in 3 weeks, CSI will be going into reruns over the summer. History will tell you that a lot of the most successful TV shows did not do well until summer reruns.
