The 7 1/2 hours extras could be interesting I wonder if this means theres gonna be different extras to the region 1.

that's probably the commentaries. they usually add them up to the hours of extras.

how many EPs had commentaries? quite some, as far as I remember, might add up to 7.5 hours together with the other extras.

Hi Sticks,
I also orderded the region 2 version, can't wait (not getting it 'till 22-25 april, ordered it through Amazon uk). I kinda figured it was the same as the region1/ US ones. Just that they'll play on our European dvd-players. Now you've made me even more curious then I already am. The dvd's will be the same though? I didn't know it was a 'special' uk version.

The UK Amazon review for the region 2 dvd says:

On the DVD: Firefly on DVD is presented in anamorphic 1.78:1 with Dolby Surround Sound. It includes commentaries on six episodes by various writers, directors, designers and cast members as well as featurettes on the conception of the show and the design of the spaceship Serenity, four deleted scenes, a gag reel, and Joss Whedon singing the show's theme tune, more or less. One of the things that emerges from all of this is how committed to the project everyone involved with it was, and is--unusually, you end up caring as much for the cast and crew as for the characters. The discs have subtitles in English and Spanish and the option of listening to the soundtrack dubbed into Spanish or French.

With regards to the different boxes my understanding was that there would be a limited edition box. This is intended to get those in the UK who have bought a region 1 to buy a region 2. The boxes we are seeing advertised don't look any different, so I am assuming they aren't the limited edition version.

I have noticed that Amazon tends to list items that have limited editions versions separately, ie I bought a CD for my kids. Having searched for it I found they had a limited edition copy which featured extra songs listed separately to the original version. If you are pre-ordering you are ordering a normal copy, so could be missing out on the chance to get the limited edition version.

The episode runnining order is the same as the region 1 dvd's,its just the packageing that fox are changing(abit) but there is suppose to be a special feature for the uk discs due to fox releaseing the box set already state side and the fact some uk people have imported thats probaly why us region 2 players Might get a bonus extra.
