I saw Gina Torres at the Sci-Fi Slam in Los Angeles today. She talked about the Firefly movie quite a bit. She is thrilled to be making the movie, and referring to Fox, she said "Revenge is sweet...I'm making a movie."

Anyway, she confirmed that all cast members will be back for the film, and said that it would answer the question of what was done to River, and by whom.

Oh yeah, and there was a big Firefly barbeque today, probably for Nathan's birthday, and she was hoping to be able to make it.

Hope she got there!

And herein lies one of the chief beauties of having a cast and crew which is connected with their fandom in the familial way that FF's folks have been; we can be privvy to information of this sort, even before the final contractual niggles have been completed to a degree which would enable a Trade Rag Official Announcement.

Oy. Yes, that was one sentence!

In any case, between this and Chris' encouraging words over at the OB, I now feel justified in feeling confident that we'll be hearing Ron's marvelous basso voice booming over the speakers of our local multiplexes (better have some damn fine subwoofers!) next year! Doesn't look like we'll be getting any secrets out of the Shepherd this time round (not if they have to work in River and the reavers [sounds like a name for a VERY strange band!] ). But that's OK, as long as we get another BDM or --holiest of holies-- another series!

DAMN shiny news!!

Keep flyin!

Man, I wish I had posted something about the pasadena con before today. We could have gotten together. I was the one who told Gina I loved her and asked what she thought about Fox's treatment of the show.

Woohoo! Break out the bubbly! This is great news. Will any of you lucky people be posting up a transcript? I'm dying to read about what everyone said.

Are we sure the movie will feature reavers? I thought that might have been the story before Joss was asked to re-write the script to serve as a launch-pad for a series return...

I second Zoriah in the transcript idea... or perhaps if anyone made an audio recording, that would be fantastic. I smile even now thinking of what a good time I had the first time I heard the audio recording from the 2003 LA Comicon (I believe it was). I really enjoy hearing the cast and crew talk about the show, and it warms my heart to hear the genuine relationship that they've seemed to develop with fans.

While I did not record it, Gina said that filming would begin in june. We asked her about showing up for the vegas ST con, and if anyone else was going to be comming to the con. She said that hopefully she would be there, and she would drag some more of the cast out.

In other news, there was little firefly stuff actually happening at the convention. It was hard to find a picture for her to sign, but right before she was up I found an angel print and a print of the crew of serenity way in the back near the dealer tables. Another thing that I saw was a firefly pin that had firefly and the chinese symbols for it written above it.

It was great, Im hoping that creation ent will pick up firefly and add a firefly pannel. Lord knows I would love to see a firefly pannel at vegas <3

If you have anymore questions, post em.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Truly great news Mal'sGal. I certainly hope she is right in that all of the cast will be returning. Of course being on the cast she is bound to know more than the rest of us.

A FF barbeque? Sounds like fun. Probably for Nathan's B-Day, or to celebrate the greenlight on the movie.

Hey! I gushed about my favourite show and asked her a question about her audition. She commented that Alan was a bit annoyed about being the only one to have his audition on the DVD and that her audition involved her scene with Simon in his room during the pilot about the war (the bit that was cut from the aired episode).

It would have been cool to have had a Firefly Shindig; I was there with a bunch of trek nerds from trekbbs.com! :) (Who I met on-line).

I can't wait for the Balckpool Shindig; anyone planning a meet up there?

"Damn you Fox for cancelling my favourite show!"

I'll have pictures posted on-line shortly, damn jet lag meant I slept until 17:00, missing the photo shop opening times. Damn Sundays for not being shopper friendly!
