Has anyone else seen the Firefly Meetup site? http://firefly.meetup.com/members/

Apparently, browncoats all over the world organize meetups for the 1st Saturday of every month.

I think it sounds like a lot of fun. I'd love to trade Fireflygasms in person with other browncoats.

sounds interesting, I just signed up in Houston.

Be nice to see more people getting together.

Jon

Edit:
ADDENDUM: It looks cool, but I you want to nominate a location for your gathering, you have to pay to join the site; I might be willing to do that, but I would have to know that more people than me will actually show up. Oh, bother.

Looks like there are 5 of you signed up in Houston.

The next meetup is Saturday April 3 at 2 pm. Let me know if you go and if any others turn up.

The meetup site e-mailed me to say that the event was cancel; they got less than 5 votes for a venue. Counting me, there are only five people registed. Meh, what'cha go'na do.

Jon, the dissappointed browncoat.

Same thing happened to me - cancelled because not enough people were registered.

I don't know how to generate more enthusiasm for this, except to keep it on the board so that people will check it out and sign up.

Suggestions anyone?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I signed up today Serena. This is the 1st time I have seen this before.

It states the meeting in my area was cancelled due to not enough people.

Make it part of the Guerilla marketing campaign.

Print sticky (preferably post-it) labels with our fff.net site and to this browncoat site and stick them right on the back of every DVD in your local store.

Hey Knib - I signed up, but it says there aren't enough Minnesota fans to start a meetup...just how many do you think there has to be?

Here's the email I just sent to them.

Good morning, I just joined Meetup and have a suggestion.

I have the option of being in either Minneapolis or St. Paul - but not both. Both show too few members to have a meetup.

The downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul are 15 minutes from one another. We aren't called the "Twin Cities" for nothing. This city listing should be updated to St Paul/Mpls so that Twin Citians can garner enough members.

I've lived all over the country and these are my other suggestions for 'metroplex' options.
Dallas/Ft Worth
Oklahoma City/Normon
Akron/Canton

There must be others. Thank you for the assistance.

This would be why all most other NFL teams has a city in their name (Tampa Bay, Detroit, LA come to mind), whilst ours - such as it is - has the whole state in its name.

Hey! We're getting quite a troupe here!

brownie? somebody say brownie?

I've been wondering if you were comfortable with posting some kind of notice about the "Minne-Shindig" somewhere, or if that would be jumping the gun?

Okay, so I'm starting school next week, then it's Easter. So I won't have much free time for the next couple of weeks...

oh, by the way, I haven't called that friend of yours yet, and I thought maybe before I do, I should be able to tell her who referred me to her. Would she know you by Knibblet? I mean it could happen, but if not, could you e-mail me your RL name?

I don't do things that would neccesitate the need to pay bail....but seeing as how if I continue the rest of the state I might need traction, I'm just gonna plead the fifth

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything. Honestly sir, I didn't touch your daughter.....much.

It's only 1200 miles Channy. Just a little weekend ride in the country.

Are there any other cities in VA listed at Meetup? Cause they say there are 612 cities listed.

We need to keep spreading the word.

Depends on where in "Northern Virginia" they are Serena. If it is the Arlington or Fredrickburg area, that is about an hour and a half north/northeast of me.

The cities listed for Virginia are Charlottesville, Danville, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Norfolk and Roanoke, so Northern Virginia is definitely not one of those cities.

I posted on the Northern Virginia taglog asking where they were, but no one has answered yet.

Lets just keep spreading the word. Eventually it will reach other Richmondonians.

BC1 - someone signed up for FF Meetup for Northern Virginia responded to my post and said that Northern Virginia is just south of Washington, DC.

How far is that for you?

... and sign up at Firefly Meetup http://firefly.meetup.com/members/ to meet other browncoats in your city.
