I think not!
I loved the opening credits as they were! Gave me a nice warm feeling.

I for one would never have watched the show if it'd had credits like that.
Too much like cheesy 80's shows like Streethawk or Automan.

It's okay, but leaving Sean out seemed a bit odd.

I just saw this via a link tweeted by Grant Imahara. I thought it was quite amusing. They really captured the 80's feel.

/original is pitch perfect anyway :)

Hell, I was thinking T.J. Hooker, but still....

Liked the video sequence, but hated the techno music crap.

As much as I adore Jewel, I think she shows up a bit early in the line up. And honestly, how do you leave Sean out ?

Still, a more attention grabbing opener couldn't have hurt.

Being an un-sophisticted hick who loves schlock and cheese, I actually liked it. It reminded me of those Saturday afternoon shows on the WB in the 90's like Cleopatra 2525, Jack of All Trades, Andromeda, and Hercules. If Firefly had been around during that time it would have fared much better on the WB on Saturday afternoon than it did on Fox's prime time.

Wow, that was just...super cheesy 80s sequence. THe music didn't fit Firefly at all. The visuals were okay, but the font was like something out of a late 80s video game. And leaving out Sean was so not cool. I kept waiting for a shot of him with no shirt...

Firefly deserves much, much better. And I love the opening it has.

I couldn't get past the first ten seconds. Yeah, it's eighties, but why do you need to list out the characters so blatantly, like someone couldn't figure out "this actor plays this character" without some godawful ugly looking insert frame. Felt like it insulted my intelligence, and the initial beat felt like it was raping my ear.

Woah!!!! That was bitchin!!!

Took me right back to the eighties. I loved it! Of course it's no substitute for the genuine article but loadsa fun! Aside from the type which is Airwolf/Automan it has the kick ass tune 'SYBEX FACTOR' from Mark Shreeve -who is a British synthesizer dude. (Kinda like our equivalent to Jean Michel Jarre!) It's so weird hearing his music to a Whedon show. He,he.

Brilliant!

The thing is...Firefly's opening has the western feel that the whole show has. With this techno stuff, it just doesn't fit.

That was so cheesy, it was the cheesiest. It had more cheese than mac and cheese or fries and cheese or even cheesy potatoes! It was so cheesy, I would spell it cheeeeezzzzeee.

The only thing I really like was the picts of the characters on the freezes. Reminded me of great moments!

But the original is still the best!

That was fun, a look back into the 80's but leaving Sean out, no. Still though it was very A-Team, Knight Rider-Airwolfy!

Dude, you said Automan and it brought back some fond memories. Try Mann and Machine (or was that in the 90's). Let's take it a step further and have The Hoff as Captain Reynolds.

Still though, there's nothing like the original.
The horses running under Serenity is beyond classic, it's Epic!

Now I'm terrified of the haunting image of Firefly 80's style. Every female character with a bad perm, Mal's mullet, Jayne wearing even more muscle shirts, River and her legwarmers, Wash in pink shirts and a headband...

Good lord.

... painted flames on Serenity that is a bad image.
Book would have had a huge 'fro though, and that's always cool.

I honestly lurved me this video like no one's business, especially for what it was: a SPOOF of 80s action shows!

It gives me the warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia of my childhood in the 80s and all the cheesy series there were about modern day lone wolf heroes using futuristic vehicles and technology to save the world. Which honestly is far flung from the point of Firefly and Serenity, admittedly and why the actual credits are still awesome and the best fit. Still, it plays up the arguably best of the 80s without the aforementioned bad perms and wacky fashion styles

People complained that we left Simon Tam out of our 1980s-style Firefly opening credits. You failed to realize: That was Firefly's second-season intro. By then, Sean Maher had cashed in on his unbelievable popularity, with a spin-off. Check it out.

Here is the intro to that show which, as we all remember, lasted even longer than the TV institution that was Firefly. I still have a tough time imagining Friday nights on Fox without the handsome jawline of Dr. Simon Tam delivering diagnosis. Man, could that guy carry a show!

The 'Firefly' sequence was a few different kinds of awesome, totally 80's and totally Airwolf.

The Simon Tam MD had a very Trapper John MD feel to it...maybe it was how it was described with Sean leaving to cash in on his newfound celebrity.

Both are very funny and extremely well done, my hat is off to the producers.

Those 80's Firefly credits? Saw 'em before. They were awkward. Some person mentioned it looked like The "A" Team credits? Nah, nah. Not feeling that...not feeling that. I feel they reminded me of a combination of Airwolf (based on the fonts they used and the music) and Miami Vice. In any event they were awkward to watch indeed. Out!
