Always been a fan to the series, just got the DVD. It's good to see a group of people out there that I join in the sadness of seeing the show cancelled, and the hope of anticipating the upcoming movie.

Anyway, I saw some threads of people debating the plot for 'Serenity.' I mean, it's pretty obvious. But I recently found this on IMDB:

Plot Summary for
Serenity (2005)

The film centers around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, "Serenity." He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family -- squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. When Mal takes on two new passengers -- a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister -- he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board "Serenity" herself.

Reavers... awesome.

Which sounds like it'd be a great summary for the pilot episode of the series. Seeing as they ran into both the Alliance and the Reavers in that ep. With the greatest threat being either Lawrence the Alliance guy or ambiguously evil Jayne.

Overall its a pretty generic summary that gives zero insight into what the movie might actually be about. Which considering its on IMDB doesn't really surprise me.

Well, I didn't say it was a scene-by-scene summary. I just noticed a good portion of the people wanted to know if Reavers were going to act in a portion of the film. Looks like it, assuming that it's not the summary of the pilot, like you stated.

However, the series had a few mysteries, such as the Reavers, as well as River's character, which Whedon was in in the process of lovingly setting up. So I would assume, on the pretense that Whedon is not putting all hope in another company wanting to fund a continuation of the series, he would bring back the Reavers involvment since they were the series' most ominous villain aside from Nishka (sp?). Also, he would delve into the full extent of River's troubled past and her current powers. Only because as a movie, he would need to raise questions and answer them for people who have never seen the show. Especially if he's using all the same characters.

Then again, I'm not big on attempting to figure out a movie's plot before it's arrival. So that's just my two cents... which most likely is similar to something already been voiced. Either way, love the show, hope the film's production isn't cancelled before it can begin.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Still a little early to say for sure that the info on IMDb is definite or not. Could be they pulled it from the pilot, or could be what they have put together from the press release and info on the web.

Either way, it is good to see info up on IMDb and other sites. The more I see & read about the movie, the happier I am.

Yeah, it is plainly clear that the aforementioned plot summary is for:

Serenity - The two hour pilot for Firefly the TV show.

And not...

Serenity - The Motion Picture.
