I'm not sure if its all the drambuie consumed but I love this Spartacus show!

It took a few episodes to grow on me (just like Firefly) but I am well and truly hooked now.

The first few episodes were a bit too visceral with too much blood I thought but its now just perfect as far as i'm concerned.

I can't wait to see where it all goes. My dad gave me the historical perspective on the story of Spartacus which I hadnt even thought to be real, makes it even more appealing, I cant wait to see him revolt... but am not looking forward to his demise.

Anyone else caught this gem?

Surely it cant be just me that is liking this show?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I watched the first three episodes and decided it just wasn't for me. Even a naked Lucy Lawless wasn't enough to keep my interest. YMMV.

One assumes this is one premium cable? HBO, Showtime, one of those? If so, I'll likely buy it on DVD when it comes out...

It's on STARZ, but Netflix was also streaming the episodes. That's how I saw it.

I know the history quite well, and they are being pretty faithful to it (not as much as with the ROME series, but they are making an effort.) If you don't know the actual history, don't go looking it up. That will spoil some of the mystery (as how some of the characters in the show will end up when it is all over.)

Plus, all the T&A and ultraviolence holds your attention.

Haven't seen it yet but I've been bitten by True Blood on HBO.

It's not your usual vampire series. I'm totally smitten by Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) He's a Civil War veteran turned vampire (and a character much like Mal IMHO) who is dark, brooding and Southern. The vamps have just literally just "come out of the coffin" and roam among humans fairly freely.

He falls in love with a local Bon Temps, LA waitress (Anna Paquin-she is engaged to Stephen Moyer IRL-they met due to the series) who can read minds.

It's dark, violent, funny and there's lots of sex. Twilight it ain't.

Season 3 starts in June and the Season 2 DVDs are available May 25.

To much blood and sex for me. When they deliberately go to slowmotion to emphasize the blood it turns me off. No reason for it.

I felt the same way during the first couple of episodes but they toned the blood down in later eps. The sex is still gratuitous but it doesnt bother me. Still.. Its definitely a show I dont dare watch unless my kids are well and truly asleep.

Whilst I acknowledge it isn't a show for everyone I find the more I watch the more I want to watch.

Didn't like Six Feet Under? Once I got past the Ick factor with the whole gayness I quite enjoyed it. Never heard of American Beauty though.

Where do you get Alan Ball from anyway? I can't see his name anywhere in the credits.

Interestingly I see Jed Whedon is one of the writers.

Last Ep had some clever twists, and neatly got rid of the wife. Kinda cold, though (in a good way.)

As is Mrs. Jed Whedon, aka Maurissa Tancharoen, aka Groupie #1 from Dr. Horrible. She is hella talented.
I don't get Starz so going to have to wait to see it.
