Whoah, I hadn't thought of the new Trek movie as perfect, but our Cap'n said it, so I guess it's so!

Watched it last night, and know what? I actually enjoyed it more after Nathan's blessing!!

I mean, it's no Serenity, but...

Might not be perfect, but I had no real issues with it. Might have to go watch it again just to check... :)

Every scene with Nimoy in it made me *squee*!

...Except that, you know, only girls squee, I mean... that I enjoyed them immensely.

He can say that because Serenity is not so much a movie but a capstone.

I've said the same thing several times in these threads. And I've seen the movie about a dozen times now. From start to finish, the movie just moves along, and everything and everyone works for me to love it each time I watch.

Well, Nathan can't be right about everything.

I don't know about "perfect', there are at the least, some pretty wonky things in the script.

But, it generally rises above it flaws to be one hell of a fun flick.

Any actor would see that complimenting JJ is a wise thing to do. Isn't Abrams working on the sequel and another instalment of Mission Impossible as well as another 'point of view' for CLOVERFIELD... So all that with the continued (for some reason?) buzz around TV's Fringe he is really the one you want to work with at the moment - Oh and there's LOST!!!

Jeez JJ really has conquered both sides of entertainment. Dude should release a rock album! Probably would go to number 1!!!
So makes sense. Plus y'know... it is a good film.

If Nathan wants to praise JJ's work then fair play to him. Star Trek isn't a perfect movie but it's just about perfect at what it sets out to do.
Action - check
Laughs - check
FX - check
Great cast - check
Gain new fans - check
Please old fans - check
Make money - check
And probably other points as well.

I would like to see these two hook up, especially if it's Trek but I'm not so bothered about MI, although if he's in MI it would make me watch it.

EDIT:
And now I've followed the link I would like Nathan and Simon to co-star together even more. Two of the most genuinely funny, nicest-seeming folks around.
And I hope the drinking contest is in the Winchester pub.

gotta think of it this way...you get like...100 characters? or something in Twitter?
So perfect is possibly just a quick and easy way of saying he loved everything about the movie. He may have exaggerated slightly, even he might not see it as 100% perfect, but, you know, exaggerating slightly is one way of expressing your love for something.

It's like if you told your gf/wife she's perfect ;)

I liked the new star Trek Movie I laughed, Iliked the story etc etc ....but I wouldn't call it perfect. there were some moments where I felt my face screwing itself up as it does when I eat something sour...I can't exactly remember what made me cringe, I just know there were cringeworthy moments... our "captain" also thought the last superman installment, and "My super ex-Girlfriend" were great movies...I fell asleep during the first and walked out of the latter. I like that he has dubious taste (according to me that is, others may not agree ha ha)...makes him more normal.
and sorry folks but GOD!!!! do I hate Lost...I have not had any affection for any of the characters since season 2.

Hey Boris! My cringeworthy moment in Trek could have been fixed by using the lines originally in the script:

KIRK: How is it that I found you in this cave in the middle of an ice planet? It's insane that we should ever even meet this way.
SPOCK PRIME: Perhaps it's the timestream's way of trying to mend itself. It is fate and destiny trying to bring all of us together.

Eh, your loss. I find it the most complex and interesting TV series ever. Of course, this would not register if you stopped at season 2, as it's taken a while for the depth to reveal itself fully.

I gotta agree with Fillion on one of those.
I really enjoyed Superman Returns. Thought it was great. Though I AM looking forward to the new one coming, especially since Chris Nolan (Dark Knight) is helping oversee the project.
That said, yeah, Super-Ex was pretty bleh.

And Lost...well..I love it.

Storymark: I don't do complex. I only do black and white with a hint of grey. complex mindy twisty stuff hurts my brain. I get why other people find it entertaining but my mind has an insatiable need to process everything down to the core so if not all the relevant information is accessible I actually get headaches.
my brain is a complex entity so I need my entertainment to be straight forward to reduce the possibility of creating further clutter. having said that I need my entertainment to be well written, constructed, and developed. I'm very picky about the quality of those things as crappy scripts and character development etc. hurts my brain too.

I have complete faith in them. Thing is, no finale is going to please EVERYONE. Especially with the expectations everyone is placing on it. But yeah, it's been great so far, and they're clearly smart guys, and have had this stuff planned, so...

in anticipation of the finale being good, and you having to buy the DVD's. Maybe you should preorder now?

or you can get the BluRay set for an extra $50. I'm going to.

I was pissed at the end of season one and the hatch ... didn't turn out to solve any of the mystery

so many bits and pieces since then I have taken to watching it a week late with the captioning that explains the relevance of thing as it is going on...

I really hope the ending explains at least some of it...

if they start playing journey and fadin to black I might lose it

I love Journey, and I love gutsy open endings and whatnot, and I actually thought that ending was fairly cool in a ballsy way.

That said, I didn't watch Sopranos, just heard about, and so watched, the ending. If I'd been following the show from the start, I'm fairly sure I would've thrown the closest object into the TV.

I have no doubt in my mind that Lost will end with questions unanswered. I have no doubt that it will probably end on some sort of cliffhanger. Thus is the nature of the show. For these reasons, I'm sure some people will hate it. But I have faith that Carlton, Damon and J.J will do what's best.

I love LOST. It's like a wonderful riddle, hidden in a maze where every now and then someone switches the lights off on you! I think that's great. It is the only show where I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen and I really appreciate that. It's just so much fun! It's even better if you have a few friends who come around and you all make a night of it. It's amazing how many different theories come up from people as to what they think is going on. What other show generates that level of interaction?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Don't know about "perfect", but it was good. Then again who am I to argue with the captain.

Hey Som (or anyone), is the new Trek movie on par with any of 1-6? Better? Worse?
If JJ's movie was perfect- was Wrath of Khan & Voyage Home movies for the Gods themselves?

Well these are the ones I wouldn't get up in the middle of to make myself a cuppa:
Star Trek the Movie
Wrath of Kahn
Star Trek (JJ Abrams version)

So yeah I'd say JJ's one is up there. However The Movie is still my favourtite.

Hey that's interesting. I'd never considered them like that. Hmmm.
I've only ever seen the Search for Spock once when it came out in the cinema. I didn't really like it that much. But I was a kid and I was maybe expecting a little more action. Maybe I should re-watch it. Who directed that one, was it Nimoy?

Do you find the Trek films re-watchable? Given a rainy day I'd gladly watch The Movie and Kahn and JJ's, but the others... I dunno they sort of say their thing and vanish somehow... ? As for the Next generation films... Pah!

Yes, Leonard made that one, a sort of shakedown on the way to his crowning effort, The Voyage Home.
