The Big Bang Theory took a shot at Fox and Rupert Murdoch in yesterday's episode of TBBT.
Sheldon and Leonard were in the car and here's how it went:

S: "Oh, I have a good game for you. List the worst villian from these - Darth Vader or Rupert Murdoch."

L: "Rupert Murdoch?, why him?"

S: "Because he owns Fox and they cancelled Firefly."

I busted out laughing way out loud that my niece looked at me funny. I told her it was an inside joke and left it at that (I tried showing her Firefly once). Imagine my delight at the mere mention of this gem. The writer/co-producer of the show Bill Prady, from what I understand, is a California nerd, hence the tone of the show and the casting of Summer as a guest star and now this delicious tidbit.

The show is great and they strive for awesomeness by taking shots at Fox and company regarding Firefly. That is beyond shiny.

Thanks Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady for giving them what for.
I wonder if either of them is a Browncoat.

Yeah, baby! I was just watching the episode on my DVR, and leaped up in joy! Then I came here to read the expected flood of posts...

I'm sure those'll come later.

EDIT: Well, FreelancerTex showed up while I was typing that, so I guess the flood's started!

I saw that last night. It definitely was quite amusing.

Not to be picky, but their game was to rank three people in order of highest to lowest degrees of betrayal. I mention that only because his follow up:

Sheldon: "Leonard Hofstadter, Darth Vader, Rupert Murdoch."

..

Sheldon: "Hint: [Rupert Murdoch] and Darth Vader are tied for number two."

Was neat to see them not only mention Rupert Murdoch, but to equate him to Darth Vader. Haha.

On another note: Does anybody read Chuck Lorre's "Vanity Cards" at the end of the credits?
He's been doing it on all his shows since he started.

This is the one from this past episode...

Quote:

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #277

Belarus is a small, land-locked country next door to Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. According to Wikipedia, one of its major exports is cattle by-products. Which begs the question, what horrible shape are the cattle in, if all they're good for is felt hats and wallpaper paste? But Belarus does have a bustling TV production industry. One of their most recent hits is a sitcom about four nerdy scientists who live next door to a beautiful blonde waitress. The characters are named Sheldon, Leo, Hovard, Raj and Natasha, and the show is entitled, The Theorists. Each episode begins with a rapid-fire montage of images which takes us from the dawn of time to the present moment. Keeping with that theme, the montage is scored with what is probably the worst piece of recorded pop music since the dawn of time. And finally, each episode appears to be a Russian translation of a Big Bang Theory episode. When we brought this to the attention of the Warner Brothers legal department, we were told that it's next to impossible to sue for copyright infringement in Belarus because the TV production company that is ripping us off is owned and operated by the government of Belarus. Having no other recourse, I'm hoping that this vanity card will be read by the fine folks making The Theorists, and, wracked with guilt, they break down and send us some felt hats. The Kyrgyzstan version of Dharma & Greg already sent me some wallpaper paste.

There was even a write-up from Entertainment Weekly about it the next day (yesterday)!

My days of takin ya seriously are certainly comin to a middle

My wife and I were watching and caught it. We laughed out loud and cheered! They are so clever and intelligent with that show! It made watching Castle immediately after more gratifying.

I believe that RM is worse villian than DV because Serenity was a better movie than all 6 Star Wars movies.

My opinion.

BTW - has anybody else on the East Coast had a Firefly/Serenity marathon since this "Snow-pokolips" hit? I've already went through all the DVDs once.

For some reason, CBS only posts excerpts of this show. Unlike Fox and Universal, via Hulu, who have their most popular shows air full episodes online.

I know..........that sucks.

My husband and I saw this and laughed like a couple of loons. Just goes to prove that if you are Firefly you may be cancelled but you will never be forgotten! As I recall the original Star Trek only lasted a season or two and was cancelled as well and then became a mega franchise a decade later. Someone should wise up and learn from TV history!

Three, I believe it was, but who's counting?

Oh, and Buffy got a shout-out of sorts on "The New Adventures of Old Christine" tonight. Christine was talking to her ex about donating sperm so she could have another baby, and told him to go to the clinic, where they'd "put you in a room, you watch an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and BOOM, you're done."

I'm not sure how that context makes me feel. I mean, I'm glad they got the mention, but I never thought of Buffy as porn. Maybe I need to rewatch it!

Oh definitely!

Perhaps I blocked her out due to my reaction to Dollhouse.
