Did he get his answer?
The Map of the Verse has it listed, something like Comm Station 2e or similar. It's location also. I'm conjuring you knew that.
It was not specified in the film or the published script.

If someone's got a Twitter account, tell Jose Molina http://twitter.com/JoseMolinaTV the name of Mr. Universe's moon is “Sygnus.”

This short story http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=22645 called Mr. Universe's moon “Sygnus.” I like that name. I could imagine Mr. Universe as a retro-gamer, one of his numerous peculiar hobbies, naming his world that. Sygnus.org http://www.sygnus.org/ is a fanrealm of projects inspired by the classic Super Nintendo version of the Final Fantasy IV RPG video game.

"The Verse in Numbers" www.quantummechanix.com/The_Verse_in_Numbers_v1.1.pdf doesn't give Mr. Universe's moon much of a name on Page 86:
A/2260(White Sun)r25m9, part of Comm Station Ring 2
Position: Kalidasa +150°
Surface Gravity: 0.9502
Terraformed (year): 2305
Population: Mr. Universe

I think “The Verse in Numbers” qualifies as a semi-official source because it goes with “The Complete and Official Map of The Verse” http://store.quantummechanix.com/Complete-and-Official-Map-of-the-Vers
e_p_54.html

From the introduction to The Verse in Numbers - "What you are about to read is one of the most heroic efforts I have ever seen to make sense of something patently ridiculous."

I don't know about fanfic officially naming something....

The choice is Sygnus or A/2260(White Sun)r25m9

I hate serial numbers for names. I'd go with Sygnus, if I were writing a story. There's plenty of empty space in the Verse for both names and more. But in the Alliance, where the Authoritarian Mind-set rules, there is only one right answer to any question. All others are illegitimate! Standards are made to be followed! No deviations permitted without proper documentation! Names for moons must be from Licensed stories only written by members of the Writers Guild of America West Coast!

Or, he could just make up a new name, and it'd be just as legitimate as one given in fanfic.... or moreso, since it would be an actual licensed story.
