In today's Daily News in Los Angeles, there is an article about sci-fi's new show Tripping the Rift. The first line of the synopsis for the show is "'Firefly' meets 'Futurama'."

That's the only mention, but I thought it was cool because the author seems to assume that everyone knows what Firefly is, and doesn't have to explain it. Maybe this is some evidence that awareness of Firefly is reaching critical mass...

Oh, and a huge shiny "WOO HOO!!!" for the movie news today!

Um, hello! Fellow Maineiac right here!!

Now, in the backwoods wilderness of Maine where I live, we get no cable.

Downside: have to use DirectTV.

Upside: I used to watch Firefly from an east coast station, then wait an hour and watch it again from a west coast station.

A double dose of Firefly every Friday, hey ratings wise I was more than pulling my fair gorram shair

PS> Gorram is actually a town in Maine. I used to go to college there.

Now that adds whole new layers to FireFly cursing.

"You didn't have to wound that man."
"Yeah, I know. It was just funny."
