Had a good day today!!

I delivered the rest of my True Blood books to my friend. Got her hooked!

We sat around and drank tea and discussed them like 2 old ladies and we decided if we kept doing that until we were 90 that was okay with us.

I also walked to and from her house in the Upstate NY snow. I figured if I couldn't make it to the gym because of said snow then I would use it to my advantage. Plus I got to wear my Jayne hat!

So yay me!

Friend bought season 1.
By half of the second episode, she declared that she HATES it.
Told her about Eric Northman, told her it gets much better, told her the lame campy comedy aspect is half the fun.
Still much mistrust from her, but she's agreed to continue...

but hey, hey no hating me... ours is the same, usually. Cause ours is at a science center and during the day it's full of school kids they only show movies they consider "family friendly" which meant I couldn't go see watchmen in IMAX. They had been advertising it for months then with around a week to go they pulled it when they realized it was an 18rated film.

How they justify saying that Avatar and The Dark Knight are family friendly though I'm not sure. They're not exactly watchmen, but they're both still not quite kiddies movies either.

They lack all that blue pipe. Don't you know that nudity trumps everything when it comes to 'friendliness' in a movie?
I wanted to see Watchmen on imax, but it was only there for about two weeks. Since the closest imax theater is a good solid 90 minutes away and the movie itself was so long and would sell out so fast, there was never a chance to get there. Sad face. May or may not make the trek for Avatar, considering it's proven difficult to even get to the regular theater to see it. And now ice is coming out of the sky and I'm pretty sure the world is going to end.
http://www.tomscott.com/weather/starwars/
On the bright side, I have CS4 Design premium for my mac now, so I may be able to ride out the ice-encased end of the world. I lub my new computerita. When the magic mouse arrives, my life may very well be complete.
I tried mead this week, in the spirit of (belated) pagan celebration. It's possibly the least icky fermented beverage I've had, though it reminded me greatly of honey-lemon cough syrup and I only find it close to pleasant when mixed with copious amounts of odwalla's orange-honey-passionfruit juice. Nice to know, if I'm ever desperate to get drunk (still a low priority) that I might now have two whole options that wouldn't disgust me. Maybe.
Waiting patiently for my fafsa application to finally process so the guvmint can give me monies and let me quit my soul-ripping job and find an internship suitable for experience and graduation requirements. Yay.

(Passes a bottle of homemade mead to PR.)
It should not taste like lemon cough syrup unless that's what the maker was going for. My first mead was a sour cherry and ginger mead. It was light pink and lovely.
Find someone who makes their own, is good at it, and try again and again and again. I've got a friend who did an amazing gooseberry melomel (flavored meads). Then there was the blackcurrant. I've had just plain ol' mead which has been quite nice as well. I don't care what Gaiman said it does NOT taste like cat piss. Or it shouldn't. Not even if you're doing it the really really old fashioned way with chunks of wax and an occasional bee.
