Hi!

For months I've been searching for Nathan Fillion's bean dip recipe. I keep hearing it's out there somewhere, but I need help to find it. Would you be so kind as to tell me what it is, or where I might go to find it?

Thanks a lot!

Worst case, maybe the guy that paid big money for some at Alan's charity auction Sunday has some ideas of contents and construction.

BTW - Shhhh - Don't tell anyone, its a big secret, but appearantly Alan "accidentally" took a big dish of Nathan's bean dip and some chips from Nathan's house prior to heading to the Con. Nathan called during Alan's time slot looking for the dip, at which time no one admitted to having seen the dip. The bean dip was auctioned of for KNTR, I think, after Alan grew frustrated with it not answering any of the questions that he and the crowd asked the dip. The dip got even though, by the sounds of it - it had an "accident" in the chair.

Found it!

NATHAN"S SUPER SECRET LOW-FAT SPACE BEAN DIP

Get yourself a casserole pan or some such big, flat container.
Layer 1: 1 large can of refried beans (they are already 99% fat free).
Layer 2: Approx. 1 1/2 cups salsa (canned or jar) mixed with 2 soft, ripe avocados. Mush your avocados first, it will be easier to mix.
Layer 3: Mix a package of TACO SEASONING into a medium container of low fat sour cream.
Layer 4: 4 tomatoes, diced.
Layer 5: One small can of diced green chiles. NOT JALAPENOS!! TRUST ME!!
Layer 6: One small can of diced black olives.
Layer 8: SHREDDED cheese - I use the bag of pre-shredded, four Mexican cheeses.

DON'T FORGET, BROWNCOATS:

This is a hearty dip that requires a sturdy tortilla chip, and will have you "repeating" the next day. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Thank you so much!!! What a great Browncoat you are!! I really appreciate this. It kinda sounds like Nathan himself wrote this; did he??? Please tell me where you found it? During my search for his fabulous recipe, I've typed his name in different ways on different boards to pull up all his old posts but didn't get much. (Sigh.)

Thank you again! You rock!

Ha, ha! Yes, I was there, and Alan talking to the bean dip as though it was Nathan himself was a scream! Thanks!

It was originally in Lex Luthor's old Firefly site but that isn't around anymore or at least not that I could find. I found it at the old board site (forums.prospero.com) by going to advanced search and typing in "bean dip" as it was also published there. So much history in such a short lived TV show..... I think the original typo (missing layer 7) is Nathan's.

Thank you for kindly responding. I'm glad to know that Nathan typed that all out and you kept it all in his own words!

Okay, I googled forums.prospero.com and clicked on a bunch of pages that went nowhere. Then typed in "BigDamnBoard.com" and found "Original Board" there. Went to it, typed "bean dip" in the advanced search under "find messages" and got: Nothing. Please help me understand how you found it? I can't find his posts when I type his name in there, either! Your guidance is appreciated!

Thanks,

Kcat

I went to where the messages are listed.

http://forums.prospero.com/foxfirefly/messages

In the upper left hand corner you have 2 options. Post New or Advanced Search. I then specified a time frame (updated from) of "beginning of time" since I think the recipe was around 2003 or 4. Then I typed in "bean dip" and it pulled up several threads and I hunted through them till I found it. Almost got lost in the appetizers thread for awhile and now have an urge to make rollups. I hope this helps.

Thank you very much!!! While awaiting your response, I went back in to try to find Nathan's posts. Under "From", I typed Nathan_F and did indeed try "from the beginning of time" and found Nathan's posts! Now, thanks to your latest response, I went back in, followed your instructions, and voila! There it is, the recipe for his bean dip via a post by The Instigator from 8/7/03. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness. You are good people! Now, go reward yourself with those tasty rollups!
