Go ahead peoples, argue with me, I know ya gonna anyhow!

Just looked up New Movie prospects for the first ! half of 2010... somebody wake me up in 2011, please!

You can tell that men are casting all the leading male roles- uncharismatic, aging, bland, been there done that, cut rate for a crappy economy actors. Hollywierd quit cueing up the same boring rehashed stuff, TRY SOMETHING NEW! I yearn for new blood...

We usually like Shrek stuff at my house but even that looks like a Make-Men-Celebrate-Mediocrity-Fest-in-a-"listen-to-your-mother"-Condescending-Sorta-Way...
God, I hope I'm wrong.

Also, they made a live action version of Avatar- "The Last Airbender" which I'm bettin' will most likely mutilate a quirky and fun series.

Okay, so I don't wanna hear about hear about Tweeny Twilights or Harry Ploppers, I know those fans are spanking themselves right now in anticipation, I get it. Otherwise, go ahead and convince me I'm wrong! C'mon, I got my big girl panties on, I can take it...

well, I like Harry Potter. Just sayin'.

But anyway, depends what you're into? Apologies if you're not into a lot of these, I just basically added films from the list that I'd heard of.

Couple of Dicks
Robin Hood
Kick-Ass
Iron Man 2
Shutter Island
Book of Eli
Wolfman
Alice in Wonderland
Valentine's Day
How to Train Your Dragon
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Date Night
Toy Story 3
Inception
Salt
Daybreakers
The Lovely Bones
Edge of Darkness
From Paris With Love
I Love You Phillip Morris
Sex and the City 2
The Legend of Spyro
Marmaduke
Predators
Sorcerers Apprentice
Footloose
Tron Legacy
Gulliver's Travels
Little Fockers
The Green Hornet

and I'm fairly sure you can bet your life that another Saw film will come out.
Honestly, it depends what you're into, but if you like the great indie comedy/dramas, then you won't know what to look forward to until a month or so beforehand, when the marketing campaign hits. There'll be plenty to see, I'm sure of it. 500 Days of Summer and Brothers Bloom were recent examples of this. I had no idea about them until a few months ago, and saw them, and absolutely loved them.
anyway, my personal picks for what I'm looking forward to next year:
Harry Potter (yes, shut ya faces! :P
Kick-Ass
Iron Man 2
Shutter Island
Valentine's Day
Date Night (for these 2, just the cast intrigued me)
Toy Story 3 (how awesome are Pixar?)
Inception
Lovely Bones
I Love You Phillip Morris (looks oddly interesting)

Not looking forward to:
Sex and the City 2
Footloose.

Too long? I thought so.
Let me know what you're into, I'll see if I can help you out any more! :)

"2010...was horrible"? Can I borrow you time travel machine/device - I'd like to slip forward and see when we are getting more Firefly content other than the fan made stuff like BcR. ;-)

I agree with Big Richard - depends on what you're into. For Fantasy/non-sci-fi Fiction fans 2010 has a lot of potential (execution could be an entirely different matter). Ones that haven't been mentioned yet are:

Last Battle Dreamer
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Clash of the Titans
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Guardians of Ga'Hoole
Your Highness
Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Jonah Hex
Conan (supposed to be much more faithful to the books)
Red Sonja (supposed to be much more faithful to the books)
Valhalla Rising

Others:
Browncoats: Redemption (super stoked about this)
Quantum Quest
Legion
Resident Evil: Afterlife (haven't seen 3 yet...)
Priest

I think he meant the movie, 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

It did have some serious issues. Still, I kinda like it. It's not near up to the standards set by 2001, but it's entertaining...

As for The List, these are the ones that look interesting to me:

Iron Man 2 (it's not like I expect much out of it, but the first one was quite entertaining, so I'll have a look)
Wolfman (Anthony Hopkins and Benicio del Toro? I'm in!)
Alice in Wonderland
The Lovely Bones
Edge of Darkness
From Paris With Love
I Love You Phillip Morris

Other than those, I think I'll wait and see what the indy media brings me...

Whoa whoa whoa whoa HOLD IT! Seriously? REALLY? A SPYRO MOVIE?! I am either going to be very happy and bouncy or very stabby and kaboomy.

I've been interested in Alice in Wonderland ever since I heard Alan Rickman'd be playing the hookah-smoking caterpillar.
Nightmare on Elm Street I'm iffy on. A Freddy that isn't Robert Englund just does /not/ sound like it's going to work to me.
I'm VERY damn excited over Predators. It's about time we got to see ass-kicking Predators that weren't losing all over the place to xenomorphs just because the plot wants to make sure the idiot-audience knows HEY, DOSE POINTY AMINALS IS HURTY!
Tron and the Green Hornet I'm kind of curious about, but not really excited about.

sorry I meant 2012 the movie

just seen that piece of trash, it looked like they put together all the effects then tried to come up with a story to tie them together

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa HOLD IT! Seriously? REALLY? A SPYRO MOVIE?! I am either going to be very happy and bouncy or very stabby and kaboomy."

Yep. Elijah Wood is doing the voice of Spyro.
Gary Oldman is doing a voice too, and he's awesome.

"Nightmare on Elm Street I'm iffy on. A Freddy that isn't Robert Englund just does /not/ sound like it's going to work to me."

I thought the same, but Jackie Earle Haley is pretty damn good in everything so far, so I'll probably give him a chance.

And NEVER go into a Roland Emmerich (2012, Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, 10000BC) film expecting a great story. It's just gonna disappoint.

The reason there are more of those is that generally, they do better, and they're more likely to succeed even without story, etc, so they can be churned out easier.

Remakes are always popular because it's easy to rehash old stuff than come up with new and interesting ideas. Same with sequels. All the characters and stuff are set up, so it requires less effort in development and marketing. A sequel has a legion of fans already.

Good call on Sex/City2 :)

Honestly, I think you can rest assured that as 2010 goes by, you'll realise there is lots to see that you hadn't seen/heard about before. Just wait and see.

Oh, that I understand! I can't even stand the trailers for 2012. If the planet is falling apart beneath you why are you flying along the ground instead of climbing out of the mayhem? It just looks AWEFUL!

So, I guess that means no time travel....rats!

I think I can shorten that statement to "Never go into a Roland Emmerich movie," and have it work even better! I like John Cusack, but just the previews for that 2012 garbage make me cringe. It just looks awful, and I'm sure they're only showing the GOOD parts. :)

By this rationale, we should be seeing Serenity 2 any year now! :)

well DEFINITELY hoping.

If Serenity's legion of fans is big enough, it'll happen. Unless of course Universal doesn't want to deal with Fox again. And that wouldn't surprise me too much.

Yeah, I'm standin' by my earlier assumption! The only good thing I really liked so far this year was the very last five minutes of Toy Story 3. Saw The Last Airbender over the weekend... Don't pay for the 3-D version... Both Hubby and I thought it coulda been waa-ay better. I miss Sokka'a one liners and was slighly disturbed to find Indians(dot not feather) playing what I thought was a traditionally Asian role? Considering the fire nation is voiced by asian actors? Anyone care?

Weellll
I usually am pretty harsh on movies, and therefore don't really go to see them to often. But yes, I am pretty sure that there were some really bad movies this year; but isn't that true of most years? I haven't heard a single good thing about the Airbender movie...or really very many movies at all. I was disappointed with the Alice in Wonderland movie, although that wasn't too bad.

But Toy Story 3 was great. It made me cry a lot.

I wonder if the directors are startin' out all over again in kindergarten and in 12-15 years they'll actually be making good stuff again? I miss the whimzy of the late '80's-early 90's... 'Course there isn't so much to be whimsical about these days...

kickass and the Hangover are the only movies I've seen this year that I liked. Am Gonna go see Toy Story 3, and am sure I'll like that too...nothing else appealed to me enough for me not to wait for it to come out on video.

You only liked the last 5 minutes of Toy Story 3?

I loved that movie.

Last Airbender has been getting AWFUL reviews everywhere, so it's a shame you saw that early on. Luckily Australia hasn't got that one yet, so I'll be able to happily avoid it.

Yeah, I liked the rest of Toy Story 3 ok, but honestly the only part that sticks with me is the part that was after the initial credits, I was pleasantly supprised by that. Some parts made me nervous. And it's about toys, I can only relate to that just soo much... I'm sure I'll like it better once my kid has watched it 34,000 times. That said, I give it an A-, which is significantly higher than anything else I've seen in a while!

A- is nice.

Still, shame about your seeing Last Airbender.

Hopefully Inception will be better!
Or rather, I hope you enjoy it, or whatever you see next, because I am CERTAIN that Inception will be better than Airbender.

You mean SARCASTIC emoticon?????

No, but if you find one I'll insert it here.

By the by, so far I've only seen big hollywood flicks mentioned in this thread but I saw a great Argentinean Crime Thriller called "The Secret in their Eyes" and "A Single Man" (not to be confused with that stupid Coen brothers movie) was an absolutely beautiful movie.
