i DO aim to misbehave

I was in church this morning and one of the confirmands was reading from Deuteronomy. Like most teenagers, he wasn't exactly comfortable at the mike and was reading softly and quickly in order to get off the podium as fast as humanly possible. As a result, I didn't hear much of what he said, except two words; "this land." Naturally my head went directly to...this land... I think we should call it... your grave! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die!

I didn't bother trying to listen after that. I was too busy trying to stifle peals of hysterical laughter.

I started thinking about 'Safe' when I saw a Post-Hore a few days ago. I was standing around with a stupid grin for a half hour.

I had a Firefly moment the other night while bartending. This guy had lost a couple of his darts and I could see them on the floor by his chair. I pointed to them from behind the bar and said, "They're over there.". He and his friends went looking over towards the dart board and I said, "Look. Look where I'm pointing." like Kaylee did to Jayne in Serenity.

You sure on that? I don't have my DVDs right now so I can't check, but I swore it was post-hore.

Didn't Kaylee say that to Simon? Or am I having sleep-deprived delusions? (I'm not that tired, I think...)

A buddy of mine was hitting on a girl 10 years his junior - still legal, mind you. While she was away for a few minutes I just had to lean over and tell him that he was going to the special Hell. LOL!

Today I thought of Firefly while watching the Oscars. Every time they announced awards for costumes or special effects, I had no idea what film it was for until they announced that, after all the names. And then I started thinking how in two years, I'll actually recognize the names when they announce Oscars for Shawna Trpcic for costume design and Loni Peristere for special effects, for the Firefly movie!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I thought of Firefly this morning on the way to work when I was changing the radio station and heard what sounded like the beginning of the theme for Firefly. I went back to the station only to realize it was a country song.

Of course I have had the theme stuck in my head all morning now.

I looked up "hore" ( www.Merriam-Webster.com) and all it could come up with was a bit about some English politician - Hore-Belisha, first name Leslie, born 1893 and died 1957. You might be interested to know he was the originator of the Belisha beacons used at pedestrian crossings. I didn't know they had an actual name - did you? Point is, "hore" ain't in the dictionary.

I did check the DVDs - with the English subtitles turned on. Kaylee says, "it's a postholer, for digging holes for posts," as she's checking out Simon.

River gives Simon her prettiest smile when she says, "It's a postholer, for digging holes for posts." At the time she was tied up to the post that was likely dug by a postholer.

Postholer itself isn't a word either, by the way. Just one of those vernaculars that gets used a lot more often than posthole digger. Folks do use them for digging holes for posts - for back decks or awnings and such. I've seen it done.

Why're we still talking about this? I feel like I'm trapped in a Succatash post - whore or hore or postholer - you be the judge.

Had a couple of post holers when growing up. Almost never used them, though. MUCH easier to hook the auger up to the tractor than to dig 50 holes in red clay with a post holer.....

Secial hells usually involve fencing. As in building fences, not knowing which end of the sword to hold.

Yep, from 'Serenity', where Jayne and Book are helping Kaylee out in the engine room. Kaylee is giving directions to the other two, so they can set up the Crazy Ivan maneuver to escape the Reavers.

For half a moment I almost thought it was from O.o.G where Mal has the flashback to when he 1st met Kaylee. Bester tells Mal that the Secondary Grav boot is shot...Kaylee " no it ain't"... tells them its the Reg Couple...(?) ...and she points it out to Bester.

"Cap..what do we need 2 mechanics for ? "
" We don't.... "

Speaking of the Oscars, the winner for short film (Two Soldiers), thanked David Boyd in his acceptance speech.

David Boyd was the cinematographer for Firefly, they mentioned him a lot on the commentaries.

Two funny things happened this morning when I was driving to work...first one, I listened to the old Marillion Song "Kayleigh" on CD and just had to think about my favourite mechanic
I know the name is spelled differently, but when you just listen and think that maybe Bester is singing this remembering his old love gone now...
I know, the song is old and has nothing to do with Firefly, but it was funny anyway.

The second thing was...I was listening to "The Ballad of Jayne" from Jaynestown, and the thing that came to my mind when Wash had his line "We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero" was: Well, that's Washington
No offense meant here to Washington, it's a great city I think...

Ok, now call my crazy because of these thoughts running through my head

You can't take the sky from me
