Mine was assigned to me by the FCC in 1980, and is unique in the world in context. I've always felt I should never say anything I wouldn't say in person, so this is how I'm known on almost every board I'm on. (On the others I just use my full name.)

WHODIED

This was the first forum I ever joined and I wondered at the time if there was some protocol. My initial inclination was to use my real name, but a few months of lurking had already shown me that someone else's SN (which I now know is their first name and a colloquial modifier) is almost exactly the same, so I dug through the show and came up with: MwaHaHa.

It turned out, a little more lurking showed me, that that was already a tag line on yet another person's account. That fact, combined with my real life need for an emergency email-ectomy, encouraged me to reboot.

Self, I thought, why not go all the way back to the beginning? The big bang birth pang of the Whedonverse!

So I did. The opening credits of the first (and every, sans OMWF,) episode of Buffy, as the theme starts and that filtered sun rises into the image, for the briefest of briefliest moments, the words 'Who Died' flash on the screen.

Hey Z,

Turns out I was wrong about the Yes album covers. It wasn't Frazzetta, but Roger Dean. Still though Frazzetta's art is fantastic. I tried to find out if Roger Dean was influenced by Frazzetta, since was born in '44, but I haven't found any evidence of that.

Take a look at Dean's stuff and you'll see what I mean. He does mostly landscapes - fantastic landscapes.

No matter.........Frazzetta rules!

BTW thanks for the art.

Funny - I *rarely* miss my Yamaha 850 Special. Bastard bike damn near killed my ass. And it DID kill two other people. :o Far's I know, I'm the only one that survived it.

So... Usernames.

Mine comes from way back when, when I bought my first Honda CRX. I'd had a little '84 Civic for a dozen years, and loved its reliability and simplicity, but when I finally killed it, I was looking for something almost the same, but with a bit more "Ooomph" and a little more fun to drive. I happened upon an '87 CRX Si (bigger, fuel-injected engine, 91hp compared to the old Civic's 62hp) that was being sold by a grad student at the University of Texas. She was Chinese, graduating and going home to China. I test drove the car, it checked out, and when I came back, we talked a bit. Her English wasn't great, but it was cute when she said of the car, "He is very... how you say?... Quick-oh." I ended up buying the car for $1600.

I bought the car at around the same time I finally got online and joined a few of the old original Honda and CRX boards (now long gone), and I needed a username, so I became "Quicko", which just kind of eventually evolved to "Kwicko" (because in comedy, "K"s are funnier than "Q"s, and I am nothing if not a comedian...)

So that's the story. And, well, here I am...

BORIS

Boris is my Id. (Inner Dick head)named after Boris and Natasha's Boris from Rocky and Bullwinkle. I have Tourette's and when I was a kid years before I was diagnosed the only way I could deal with it was to give it a name and pretend it was an unwelcome invisible tumour I couldn't get rid of. The name seemed pertinent: small but repugnant and persistent and occasionally endearing in an odd way, but ultimately unwanted. I just use the name now to avoid the whole "name has been taken" thing. Interestingly when I'm having a bad Tourettic day, my friends also refer to Boris as a seperate entity...which is kinda nice even though I always insist on dealing with any consequences of Boris behaviour. My real name is Rosaria which is shortened to Rose.

By the way, that car DID prove to be quite "Quick-oh" - it was the car I learned to autocross in, and it won tons of events, several best-in-class trophies, and a few season championships. I sold it in January of this year, and it's getting a complete makeover, and will soon see life on the track again in a higher competitive class.

Mornin all!!

ShinyGoodGuy,Kwicko.....I love Rodger Dean’s work. I have an art book of his around my house somewhere, along with 4 or 5 of Frazetta’s art books.

Ok, since you’ve mentioned girls / Frazetta…….here’s another BSG painting he did back in 1978.

NVG that would be cool to get your friend to do a Frazetta ink for you. Even better to have a Frazettaish style Ghostrider done. Frank Frazetta turned 80 last year so the guy ain’t doing much anymore. I don’t blame him….time to retire and enjoy the fruits of his wonderful art.

Kwicko……nice pics!!

Boris…..at first I thought that you were going to post that you got your name from Boris Karloff or Boris Vallejo ( another fantastic fantasy artist)

That one's a little fuzzy I guess. The dialogue wasn't as crisp as in the other two. Not that Superman III's dialogue was any better...
I asked you to kill Superman, and you're telling me you couldn't even do that one simple thing for me...

Wow, had to work for that.

I once waited 90 minutes for some friends to show up in NYC, and me and another friend recited Star Wars word for word, sound effect for sound effect until the others appeared.

HURRICANEDAWG

I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, and on my football forum nearly everyone adds the word "Dawg" to their screen name... This is because there's the "Dawg Pound" section at CBS.

I signed up on that forum after hurricanes Jeanne and Francis hit back in 2004. I was amazed at the raw power of the storm, and I've never experienced anything like it (and don't particularly care to either). I thought it was a fitting screen name because I'll never forget those two storms.

Hence the name HurricaneDawg... Because DawgHurricane sounds too goofy.
