Like millions of others, I loved that "Where The Hell Is Matt?" video from last year...

...only to find out that it was all a cruel hoax!

I feel so used.

Honestly, today is the first I've ever heard of this. Ever. Cool vid though. Why did the company do it, just 'cause?

Does there need to be a reason for supreme coolness?
(If so, he explains it on his website: http://wherethehellismatt.com/)

And how did you miss it? Everybody was emailing this to everybody else!

Not entirely sure what you mean by "before the Internet".

Hee - I almost can't imagine anything other than making blankets from skins, setting traps, and smoking. I keep telling myself there had to be more.

TRAVELER

Michael Palin went on three different journeys about 20 years ago and they filmed him in all corners of the world. It was shown on PBS here in the United States. I think it took ten years off his life. He really looked worn after the first month and still had a far way to go.

And I still believe this gentlemen did this. It would be cheaper to actually travel to these places then create all the effects. Photoshop would work, but to do it frame by frame would take an extensive amount of work.

I dimly remember that far away and long ago time: me and Flintstone used to bang rocks together. We rode around in cars with holes in the floor. We had these things that Dr. Asimov called Holmes-Ginsbook Devices for sharing information-- they were called by their short name of 'books. Some of us had primitive calculating machines that ran at speeds of up to 1 whole megahertz, some of the bigger and more expensive ones had 128 K bytes of memory. We communicated with these machines at the scorching upgraded speed of 2400 baud, with local dial-up Bulletin Boards, using our one and only land line telephone line, which could not receive voice calls while we were doing it, where we paid by the minute.

Such unbelievable, primitiveness, it was worse than the Border Moons.

Okay, y'all do realize that the "confession" of the "hoax" is in fact a hoax, right?
Just some brilliant deadpan humor from Matt, and I was just playing along. (I put THREE winkies at the bottom of my post!)

Here's the full image of the pie chart he used in his presentation...
