I recently bought the DVD set of Firefly for my wife. She is a huge fan of Buffy and Angel. I enjoy watching Angel sometimes, but I must admit I never really enjoyed Buffy that much.

When she started watching the DVD's I was not really intrested, but after the first 2 hours I new I had stumbled across a great show. I don't know what it is exactly, but it just really sets something off in me. I have watched the DVD's three times now and I just find the show incredible.

The writing and acting are supurb. The setting spins a new twist on the classic space sci-fi theme. The music ties in so well with what is going on in the show and I just can't get the theme song out of my head.

On Friday and Saturday nights were are generally out and about, but I do know that we taped the first two episodes. I can recall that we did not understand what was going on. It felt like we picked up a book and started in the middle. At the time I didn't know about what had happened with the pilot and fox, but we never saw anymore episodes after those first 2.

For some reason Firefly keeps coming up in conversations at my house. We can't stop talking about it. We keep joking about going to the store to buy the second season.

I hope that this show or at least the universe that it is set in somehow get another shot. The worst part is that I never really gave the show a fair shake because of the confusing begining, but if the power were mine I would turn back time and give my viewer points to this wonderful show.

Fantastic Show!

Welcome to the boards, Bane! Have faith, we should be hearing some official news on the movie soon. The job of all us browncoats is to convert every person we possibly can to get them to buy the DVDs, see the movie, and fall in love with the Firefly 'verse, so the powers that be will bring our brilliant show back to television.

MAL
Good. Thanks for the update.

Just shows what a difference it makes when the network doesn't listen to the creator. Joss knew what he was doing when he wrote Serenity dammit!

It so frustrating that it was aired out of order Im sure it would have gained huge viewing figures if people knew what was going on. I've never failed to convert anyone whos watched the eps in the correct order.

A friend of my wifes was recently tied up and forced to watch the pilot. She then demanded to see another then another.

Finally, after Objects in Space she was pissed at me when I told her the show was cancelled. The thing I thought was funny was she loved everything but River, whom she hated until War Stories. Suddenly she was all " River is so cool "

" Thats not fair !!!!
I didn't even have a soul when I did that!"

I converted my whole family, I thought" I'll just buy this Firefly DVD for myself". And I watched it with the family eventually. Well now it seems we're quoting it every day. Awesome show. Almost...too awesome...

Thanks for the welcome. I really can not say enough about the show, but I am sure many of you feel the same way or else you would not be posting on this bbs.

I was happy to read that there might be a movie. I really just wanted to express my appreciation for the show. It does seem to fit together better when you watch it from the start with the intended pilot in place, and I just can not say enough about the music.

Not only that, a secondary source says Joss has rewritten the movie script to reflect the possilibity of a return to the series. See: www.fireflymovie.com, news section, Feb. 11.

I'm new to Firefly too. I think this is my second post on this board. (Woo hoo! Grizzled veteran!)

I only watched Arial when the show was out, and I just simply didn't keep up with it mostly because of the timeslot. But somewhat recently I was walking through a to-be-kept-anonymous Monster Shopping Chain when I saw the box set staring at me. Then I realized that "hey, that one epsiode was cool". And once I watched the pilot, I couldn't stop watching until the DVD set was done or I had to work. Or sleep. Or something.

The stories and characters within this show had so much staying power. After watching this series I bought a few of the Buffy seasons just so I could get my fix of some Joss Whedon. However, while Buffy is schweet in it's way, it's just not as much visceral fun as Firefly was.

I also started some charcoal drawings of scenes from the show - just to study the effect of "visual storytelling". This show just seemed to tell wonderful stories so well. There's this once scene in Heart of Glass when Inara's crying - initially it made me want to reach out and give her a blanket and a cup of tea. What a wonderful effect.

It's good to hear that the movie may happen. I'm _so_ there when it opens.

So, anyhow, if you read this, I'm totally in your boat. A recent convert, but man, I hope this story keeps flying.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the board Bane and TeeHunt! Glad to have you with us. All us Browncoats are always glad to see new fans signing on, and to hear the DVD is convincing more people of what we have said all along; Firefly is a great show!

You have come onto the board at a good time. The movie script is written, Universal owns the rights to the show and is in pre production now, and the DVD sets are available.

Hope to see each of you posting with us regularly.

Oh, man, that makes me want to cry. I guess it's healthy that you can laugh at it...
