I have a theory on why firefly was canceled so soon it might have come on to soon after 9-11 some on the things they did the robbing the sealing may have been look at by some as acts of terrorism. Not that they were but a lot of people back then were still pretty upset over 9-11 and may not have understood what the show was really about.

SCHISM

Seems a bit far fetched now, but....back then....everyone was SO damn touchy.

Who knows?

Not sure about "crime=terrorism" - but there is certainly something of an anti-authoritarian air to the show, not to mention the "if it wasn't for the whole slavery thing, who's side would you have been on in the civil war" angle.

However - "Not Invented Here" games and TV bosses' general contempt for viewers seem like a more likely reason.
