I was watching episodes of Leverage online (interesting show. very smart and fun, if you like Burn Notice I'd give this a try too) which has former Angel star Christian Kane (Lindsey McDonald) as a lead. I then got to an episode that has both Sam Anderson (Angel's Holland Manners) and Danny Strong (Buffy's Jonathan) as guest stars. At this point I realized I was watching this series 'Whedon Episode'.

I'm defining a 'Whedon Episode' as an episode of TV where one or more former Whedon stars are regulars and two or more guest stars have been on Whedon shows.

I started thinking about other shows and realized that How I Met Your Mother, which stars Alyson Hannigan, had a Whedon Episode in season two when both Morena Baccarin and Tom Lenk guest starred as co-workers in a coffee shop.

Bones could easily have a Whedon episode. It has David Boreanaz, it once referenced Firefly by name, and Tamara Taylor was the schoolteacher in the opening of Serenity. If one former Whedon actor guest starred, then Bones would have it's Whedon Episode, I just can't think of any right now.

Can anybody think of any other?

Not to change the rules or anything, but a "Whedon Episode" could also be when Whedon himself appears on the show, as he did on an episode of Veronica Mars, or when he directs, as he did on a couple eps of The Office, one of which involved bats...

Well, these do not constitute Whedon episodes by your definition, but there were definate Firefly Shoutouts:

Castle (starring Nathan Fillian as Castle):

-last episode opens with a swordfight, and he attends a shindig.
-previous episode he described a special hell.
- Watch closely, in several episodes he is wearing a browncoat

Chuck (w/ Adam Baldwin as Casey):
-most episode had a "betrayal scene" the way it played out and was staged, Adam was in the role of mal talking to jayne in the airlock.
- In Chuck Vs. the Crowne Vic Adam waxes poetic about a car very similarly to how he speaks of Vera.
- he has also said, "I will end you"
- This show has also referenced star wars, terminator, and several others

Battlestar Galactica:
-Serenity can be seen flying in teh background of at least one scene ( same special effects guys that firefly had yay Zoic!)

Yeah, that pre-attack, Caprica City scene was way cool. Since Firefly's don't have FTL, that poor ship couldn't join the BSG fleet, alas.

Didn't Chuck have a Casey scene where he said something about killing somebody with their brain?

TTSCC with Summer had Rudolph Valentino (I think) played by the actor who was the Reaver survivor in Bushwhacked, last December. Does that count?

How about Drive, when driver Nathan is pulled over by cop Richard Brooks and is asked something like "Does that seem right to you?"

Wasn't Morena on an Episode of Stargate Atlantis with Jewel?

Fredric Lehne (Rance Burgess) was in "Bones" Season 1, Episode 18.

Does that count?

Morena was in a couple episodes of SG1, I'm not sure about Atlantis though.

How I Met Your Mother also has Neil Patrick Harris from Dr. Horrible. That's kind of like a double Whedon episode.

So that would be a Whedon show having a Whedon episode?
Huh?

When did Bones reference Firefly by name?

In the season 1 Christmas episode Zach is trying to build a robot which responds to voice commands and when it doesn't work Hodgins says something along the lines of "you tell it to sit, and it walks. You tell it to take out the garbage and it watches reruns of Firefly"

Currently, Michael Fairman (Niska) is on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. I asked my wife, "I wonder if he's going to try and discover who they REALLY are?"

Zoe: "Get it running again."
Mal: "Yeah"
Zoe: "So not running now"
Mal: "Not so much"
- Out of Gas

Lost--The episode that Nathan guest starred on, there was also a federal agent played by the guy who played Rance Burgess. I can't think of his name right now.

Thank Universal for airing Firefly in HD at

On the Supernatural episode where they first met the Ghostfacers (I love those guys, they're hilarious) one of them got scared at one point and his friend asked him "WWBD. What would Buffy do?" I thought that was great.

If you want to get real technical... Bones has a whedon episode every week. TJ Thyne (Hogins) was a guest star on Angel on the first episode of season 5 ("Conviction")as a lawyer and also appears briefly in "Life of the Party" and "You're Welcome."

I forgot about that. That's awesome. So I guess Bones win. It's hard to beat that

Mark Sheppard appeared several times on DollHouse, as one of the other FBI agents (a senior one, apparently, so he may be back.)

It's not a show with a Whedon actor as a regular, but I was watching a rerun of NCIS the other day and Adam Baldwin, Julie Benz, and the guy who played the Alliance officer who's butt Mal saves in the (real) pilot episode were all on it.

Oh, and as for refrences to FF, in 'Chuck vs the Sensi' (sp) Casey tells Chuck that he's "damaging his calm"

Burn notice had an episode with Mark Sheppard in it where he was a bank robber. I am not sure if this counts as a whedon episode becasue I cannot remember if there were any other references to Whedon shows in this episode.

Gina Torres was a guest star on Bones for one episode - she played a wealthy doctor having an affair with the guy who ended up as Corpse of the Week.

Awesome thread!
