Read the interview with Greg Edmonson, the composer of the beautiful music heard on Firefly. The article is not just about the music, but has lots of scoops about the making of the show.

Here are some highlights:
Quote:

Joss' original vision was of a single guy just sitting on the front porch just playing guitar and singing the song. But FOX always thought of this as a more straight ahead action show...

That is why, if you'll notice, anytime we had a shot of the Serenity in space, it is always guitar and/or fiddle, never horn. This was the antithesis of Star Trek. Does the horn work? Absolutely. But Joss wasn't remaking Star Trek....

The very last piece of music I wrote for this show was when Inara tells Mal she's leaving in the Heart of Gold. And that scene was heart wrenching to me, knowing that there would not be another....

...and a lot more.

I certainly hope they higher Edmonson to do the movie score. He did a - words don't describe it - an amazing job with the show's score.

No power in the 'verse can stop me.

Thanks. Write FOX at askfox@foxinc.com! They are collecting emails from people who want the soundtrack to make a case to release it soon.

I love the fact, that like all of us here, none of them are 'over' the show yet either- Says a lot for the show, I think-

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Great interview! Thanks for posting the link.

I had the same thought SP. It seems like this show touched everyone involved with it and just won't let go.

Thank you. Everyone involved worked very hard to get this interview up. Special thanks go to browncoats here at FFF.net, Greg Edmonson, and Tracksounds. The editor of Tracksounds had never heard of Firefly, but put up the interview anyway. He paid for increased bandwidth for his site to accommodate the "droves" of Firefly fans I told him would be flocking over to read it. So help spread the word, because I don't see very much flocking yet.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

(BTW, I'm still working on v2 of my CD. Been seeing lots of good suggestions for additional tracks along with the editing I have to do on what I already have.)

Thank you, KernelM and all the browncoats here. Tracksounds has added an acknowledgement to FFF.net browncoats in my note at the bottom. I couldn't have done this interview without you and all your ideas.

This is great! Has anyone figured out sheet music to the theme or to The Hero of Canton yet? Or is it available anywhere? How cool would it be to play those around the campfire!

Hi, I followed the link o the article when it was first pucblished here, without any problems.

I've tried following the link today (plus the two links on the headline post on the FFF homepage), but it's not working now... has the interview been removed?

Woudl it be opssible to get a copy to keep here on FFF?

Like fireflyfans.net?

The link at the top of this thread is working just fine for me this morning BritChick. The link on the main page here is working as well. Looks like it has already been added to the site.

Which record label would publish the Firefly soundtrack? The Buffy soundtrack was put out by TVT Records and Buffy "Once More With Feeling" soundtrack by Rounder Records. Which would Fox Studios use for putting out a Firefly soundtrack? I know I'd buy it!

Good stuff. Shiny, in fact. Let's hope we see that soundtrack real soon. I'll be sendin' off my e-mail to 'em pretty gorram sharpish.
