Time for a new bar, figured I should make a post today, it being my two year anniversary and all.

So I propose a toast, to good friends and good times.

Oh they explained much more in the games. The movie (although visually gorgeous) was crap and didn't have much to do with the games. Pyramid Head is supposed to be the manifestation of the main character, James', sexual repression and guilt. He's considered the "executioner" in Silent Hill 2. Basically James' mind is punishing itself for his sins and Pyramid Head plays that role.

Not that I'm obsessed at all or anything... >.>

Awwww, you mean there is no job where you get paid to do nothing?? My dreams are shattered, boooo!

Man, I should be doing things, but I have no energy to get up. -.- I need caffeine!!

yeah i knew from other sources that James was supposed to be the main character and that he was looking for his wife and daughter who had disappeared into this other realm. Huh, so that's what pyramid-head is. was there a weird 'evil' manifestation of the girl in the games as well? what exactly *is* she? O_o

Actually the movie was loosely based on the 1st game, which the main character was Harry and he was trying to find his lost daughter, Cheryl. The 2nd game didn't follow the same story line as the 1st. The movie only had Pyramid Head to add some fear to the movie and to appease the fans. Like I said, the movie didn't follow the story line much at all. Although the lil girl, Alessa, was actually the same as in the game; tortured lil girl who was sacrificed and this kind of "demon dimension" makes it possible to exact her revenge. Of course there is a whole long back story, but I'm not gonna go crazy with it, lol! Fantastic games, I think you should check them out. ^^

Oh please, it's not that bad. There's no hentai or anything like that in there.

It is a rather dirty place though, my mind's been rolling in the gutter for some time, I blame Navy.

And if you're really interested in the show, tis called "Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni", otherwise known in the U.S. as "When They Cry". These are some of the more...interesting scenes from the first season:

Had to stop about five seconds in. I've had my fingers caught in something before. Visceral reaction was too strong and I didn't want to see what was going to happen next. (I read the warning and saw "dismemberment" and then applied that to the "I wonder what will happen next" principle. Ew.)

But the artwork was fun!

What happened to my fingers, you ask?

It was about 15 years ago.

You know how a window opens up and down in the two parts?

(nod here)

You know how they slide across each other?
(nod vigorously here)

Did you know that it's possible to get your fingers caught IN BETWEEN those two slidey parts when you close a window?

(make wincy face)

AND that it's really no fun to be trapped by the ends of three fingers in a window with the phone downstairs, no tools suitable for prying within anything like reach, the nearest neighbors about a quarter mile away, and the people who live with you just went off to dinner about ten minutes before that so you're the only one who can hear you? I did manage to free one finger, but the other two were not budging.

Luckily somebody had forgotten something and they came back about fifteen minutes later just as I was beginning to wonder if making like a coyote was a better plan than spending several hours like that and if I was going to lose those fingers no matter what I did.

I had excellent breath control and put every ounce of training into that screaming when I heard them pull up, let me tell you! It took them a few seconds to realize I was not engaging in primal scream therapy (interesting mindset in that house).

My fingertips were half their normal thickness when they managed to pry me out of the window. The skin wasn't broken and neither was the bone, I needed splints, they throbbed for about a week and a half, and the nails still grow funny, but I'm fine. I still flinch and look away every time I open and close a stuck window.

Then there's the agony of seeing your toddler get his delicate tiny little fingers pinched in a door that he's playing with. Then there was the time he was playing peekaboo with the door and his father (who was in control of the door), and pappa didn't see the little fingers in the hinged side of the door frame. I came home that evening to a note taped to the front door which read that my son was fine and they were at the emergency room. Smart man, putting the reassurance first so I would not incinerate him on the spot by sheer force of will.
THAT'LL make you want to take everything with a hinge to it completely apart. I'm a lover of archways and open cabinetry at this point.

So yeah, me and closing doors.. cringe every time. BSG had one of those moments that left me nearly nauseous and cradling my hand protectively.

HUGS Rosie.. I have also had adventures with fingers.. I was managing a day care and was trying to convince one of our two years olds that the vacuum was totally safwe...so I put my hand flat on the floor right in front of the vacuum just as one of the employees came throught the door, bumped the vacuum which ran over my hand, sucked my fingers into the vacuum breaking 2 fingers and spraying blood everywhere...... obviously a very successful technique for convincing kids ( that the vacuum is an instrument of death)

Not to worry, he probably won't need much help.

This is a child who designed his own treehouse.
It features electricity, plumbing, three separate structures connected by bridges, a swirly slide for quick escape, a reading room, and a gravity powered elevator.

Well I'D play in it...

Toothpicks are for picking teeth. I am not afeared.
I do, however, have a vivid memory of digging the end of one out of son's foot in the last year after he stepped on it barefoot. He was pale, sweating, and shaking by the time I was done but we both made it through alive.

... is it just me or is this turning into the "SR and son's list of injuries" thread?

Barkeep! Something strong! Make it a double!

I'm not going to be watching BSG with others tonight. I'll have to wait for it to come up on hulu or Scifi.com.
Then there's the special extension movies I've heard are planned.

number one way to identify a Ron Howard movie:

me: *sees clint howard* oh god, is this a ron howard film?
dad: yup.

and that's how you can tell Far and Away is a ron howard film, and Apollo 13, and Backdraft, and Cinderella Man...I could keep goin down the list, but that would mean naming every single ron howard film with clint howard in it (fyi, clint is in *all* of his brother's films ><;)
