This is a can of worms that i might not want to open but...who is your favorite charchter. PICK ONE! let's not get into a list of all of them and why they are cool. pick one, all time favorite firefly charcter. Doesn't even have to be somebody on the crew, could be a bad guy or that generic aliance guard for all i care...just give a good reason.

Mine is Wash, i love funny people, and he is just so FUNNY. Typical Joss i guess, he doesn't have a lot of layers, (well as far as the show got he wasn't HUGLY developed, he just wasn't as consentrated on as Mal or Inara) and i would love to see more of him! I can't wait to see the upcome movie I Robot, because the actor who played Wash (drawing a blank on the name) is in it in a Major-ish role! Yay!

There's a thread about favorite characters already at the following url:

Mine would have to be Mal. He's just so unpredictable and psycho.

Alan Tudyk.

Anyway, I'd have to say that my favorite is Mal. And let me also say that this is not really an easy choice, because all of the characters are richly developed, well portrayed and definitely awesome, but I think I identify more with Mal.

Personally, I like his fighting spirit. Despite being on the losing side of a war for independence, Mal continues the fight by refusing to live under the thumb and rules of the oppressive Alliance government. Mal takes care of himself and owns up to his responsiblities, despite any personal danger to himself. He makes his own life. A man of his talents and ability could probably live a pretty cushy life in the employ of the Alliance, but Mal's got principles and they don't include being an Alliance lapdog.

I also like how his stength of character draws folks to him and really is the glue that holds such a diverse bunch together. He knows how to maintain order without being authoritarian. I just watched "Safe" again last night, and was reminded of how Simon's father told him that if he ever got in trouble with the law again, he woulnd't bail him out. Yet, when Simon and River were taken hostage, Mal came and rescued them because they were "on his crew." Mal's crew is his family, and the ties that bind this family together are some of the strongest ever to be found.

Also, I like the internal stuggle that is constantly going on inside him. He's definitely haunted by his past, and is hesitant to make connections with others, but at the same time, he finds himself drawn to certain folk and it's great to see that struggle play itself out. Also, he's funny.

heh.

No power in the 'verse can stop me.

My fave character is River.

I love the way she looks at and experiences the world around her.

Plus, no power in the 'verse can stop her.

Ya know? I could honestly care less about River... I would much rather find out about Books past than Rivers. Not to put you down or anything.

Hey totaly off topic thing that i just realized...River and Reaver are really similar...Probably means nothing...but it makes you think about all the incredible wierd places this show could've gone...

And apoligies for a repeat of an existing thread.

Simon and Kaylee are my two favorite - I can't pick one of them, I like 'em both. It's awesome that they happen to have a relationship.

Strangely, one of my favorite scenes with Jayne involves Book and Inara- It's War Stories, when Inara is escorting the counselor off the ship, and Jayne is eyeballing her- There's Book, struggling with the weights behind Jayne who isnt paying attention because he's too busy ogling Inara- It's a really funny moment, and it kind of gets lost in the episode- It's things like that that make them seem like real people- And then the payoff of "I'll be in my bunk" -

(and of course my all time fav is the Jayne introduction scene from OOG, as you can tell from my handle and tag-)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Mal, without a doubt. I love his flip manner and how he looks out for his crew. He can joke and have a good time, but is deadly serious when anything threatens his ship or crew.

I love his "rebel" attitude and how he avoids the Alliance. There is a lot more to Mal than is immediately apparent. Just look at his attack on Niska after being tortured.

I can really associate w/ Mal and have liked him since the first moment.

Jayne runs a close second. The loveable, slightly dumb mercenary. We got to see some depth from Jayne in "Jaynestown", and I would like to see some more from Adam in the future.

MISGUIDED BY VOICES

Kaylee. Its a lot to do with Jewel Staite's take on the character - but as JW said, that's the emotional centre of the show.

In terms of best on the page character, I'm going to go for Early - hard to have such a defined character in a guest spot.

KAYLEESBOY

Guess I'd have to go with Kaylee overall....go figure. But in all honesty I love all the characters, it seems like in each new episode I watched my favorite character switched. I just say Kaylee because her optimsm on everything that happened was just so refreshing.
