Cap'n Tightpants has been cast in a new Fox pilot, according to this Hollywood Reporter article, which also mentions Alyson Hannigan's NBC comedy pilot:

Here's the relevant info. And I'm sure we all take issue with the article's claim that Nathan Fillion is "best known for his role on the ABC comedy "Two Guys and a Girl."

'Dumb' Co-Star in Sibling Series with Hannigan

Meanwhile, David Alan Basche has been cast as Wilbur Post in Fox's remake of the 1960s comedy "Mister Ed"; Jonathan Cake (news) as the lead in ABC's limited Roman Empire series "Empire"; and Nathan Fillion (news) in Fox's drama pilot "Hollywood Division."

In "Hollywood Division," about undercover cops at a Hollywood high school, Fillion will play a police detective; he replaces Matthew Settle (news) who was originally cast in the role.

Fillion, best known for his role on the ABC comedy "Two Guys and a Girl," previously starred in Fox's short-lived drama "Firefly."

Even if the Cap'n is cast in another show, that should leave him PLENTY of time for a MOVIE, yes?

Here's hoping...

"about undercover cops at a Hollywood high school..."

Wow does that sound awful. I doubt even Nathan Fillion can save it, especially without decent writers. On the bright side, that show's sudden but inevitable failure will leave him free for more Firefly.

All this time, I thought NBC had a talent holding deal with Nathan Fillion. I thought he would do another NBC show if Alligator Point didn't work out. I guess they let him go?

Eeeck - Is anyone else getting flashbacks to "21 Jump St"" here?

I am assuming he is NOT one of the undercover kidlets. The man may be cute, but that would be definitely pushing it.

This is very, very scary ...................

The Cap'n should sign on for the new show with Fox then walk out on them when Joss is ready to go with the movie.

The good Mr. Fillion should give FOX the fat middle finger on this, but I guess he needs the cash

and yes, I am getting 21 Jump Street Flashbacks as well *shudder*

I did at first. but then the article says they would be undercover at the school, not that they would be undercover as students at the school. Could be a big difference there. Nathan's character could easily pull off the handsome, charming substitute teacher causing all the girls to swoon. Meanwhile he'll become the understanding listener who subversively engineers the sudden but inevitable betrayals required to obtain the necessary arrests.

Somebody stop me.

My first reaction was - didn't Nathan learn anything about the last time he worked for gorram fox? *sigh* But then I suppose - boy's gotta eat.

Good news that Nathan is on TV, it can only help to further our cause. As people who haven't seen Firefly before, would say 'hey, its that guy, from that shows'.
Not sure if the world really needs another high school or cop drama though. Being from the UK i am suprised by the number of US-school dramas that get churned out. Maybe it has something to do with the age of sexual consent being later, and not being able to buy a beer until your 21. While UK TV leaves high school shenanigans to Byker Grove.
