Just an interesting story i came across today, i'm not sure how many comic-book fans there are on this board but i figured that since Batman is a cultural icon at least a few people would be interested .

I may wear brown, but theres a little purple mixed in there too.

Bollocks! Just my initial, more-or-less unvarnished response, there. At least they're not being coy about finding someone else to fill Bruce Wayne's fetish wear - you can kill/retire the man but not the multi-billion-dollar franchise.

I think if they're going to outright kill Wayne/Batman, they should have the Joker do it. Subsequently - a day, a month, a year later - the Joker kills himself, either out of some Joker-esque remorse or simply because a world without his arch-nemesis is not a world worth living in.

And wouldja believe DC still declines to return my phone calls?

It was like that when we got here!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Yeah, read an interview w/ Morrison about the "death" of Batman in RIP and how one way or the other Bruce Wayne is out as Batman.

Not really a new concept for DC. Bruce Wayne has had to step down before and others took up the mantle of the Batman as Gotham can't survive without the Dark Knight.

Do I think Bruce Wayne is done? Doubt it. Like I said he has walked away before, but he always seems to come back.

Be interesting to see where they go with it.

STORYMARK

I don't believe for a second this is permanent.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

I don't believe this is permanent either.

"All this has happened before, and will happen again."

If they really were to kill him off it should definitely be The Joker, but both of them should get to die, a bit like Holmes and Moriarty, except that neither should come back.

But this isn't the end.

"I don't believe in suicide, but if you'd like to try it it might cheer me up to watch."
