ok EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!! Dog must have dug out or wriggled out at some point in the fence and got in the yard. Found him luckily, but his whole head and neck were crusted with dog doo... so I put him in the tub and start to wash him and he shakes and sprays doo filled water all over me and the bathroom so I end up scrubbing a stinky dog, scrubbing the whole bathroom, scrubbing me, and doing laundry all while I'm trying to rest 'cause I'm sick... gotta love dogs:)

NV well there's food, movies, board games, and so much talking your ears might ring for days...but other than that

Ewww, MsA, icky icky. Hubby and I have just been talking about getting a puppy again (though we're back to the "can I handle the stairs several times a day, every day, indefiniately, by myself?" discussion, sigh), and that's not the sort of reality check you want when you're thinking about all the good things about having a dog, lol. Of course, ours would be primarily inside only (hence the stairs debate), but still...

As far as Thanksgiving, we're staying home and cooking everything ourselves, so I can have a meal-based holiday without worrying about what is in the food that's going to make me sick(er). I need to make myself some yummy food to make up for Halloween, and get me past Christmas, sigh.

Yeah ok, now I'm in self-pity mode.

I actually haven't started a DK, not sure that I will. My mage is 73 and my warrior is 72. I really should just pick one to play, but they're both so fun. And I should really stop playing on a PvP server. :P

I have a friend who has a 76 DK all ready, not sure how he did it. I was a bit of a slacker on leveling, honestly, but I went to the midnight signing event at Fry's, and didn't get home until almost 4am. I was paying for that the rest of the weekend, which really cut into my play time. I have to stop doing stupid shit like tht.

It sounds like he has an interesting rune system that is sorta carrying over to D3. My darn friend got me back onto D2 btw. Just a little over a week before my characters would have expired. I was off for 80 days!!! Oh well.

((Hugs)) MsA!

Well this was an expansion pack that came out Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Previous to that, the level cap was 70, so both my high level characters had been capped for awhile, and it took me a long time to get them that high (I started the warrior on the day WoW launched four years ago). The expansion has new areas, new quests, and new gameplay, but lets you keep your old characters and take them from 70 to 80 if you want, which is the new cap.

There's stuff you can't do with your friends until you get to the cap, so there's a lot of pressure to get there fast. And also just bragging rights. We play with a bunch of hubby's coworkers, and he was saying they were going to make fun of him for not getting further this weekend, hehe.

The devil may have a hold upon me.

I am strongly considering getting a PS3 around Christmas. With the BDS/BDM on Blu-ray, a strong want to have my giganto surround system hooked up in the house, and my bud John down the street looking to double team fools online it is almost impossible to resist. Gotta get other necessary work done a few weeks before Christmas though. Headed back to Oroville for Reindeer Games IV, a benefit tourney and drive for Toys For Tots. We already have near a dozen people from Fallon heading up for this event. Such a busy time of year.

Psssh PS3...giant paperweight. :-P

I really think they got too full of themselves this generation. They added way too much into that box. Though I guess it is smart for people who want a bluray player and some gaming potential. Still I'm an old school gamer. If I buy a console I want it for gaming not for home theater systems.

Nope. I like the Wii! It's a game system and that's all it is. The games are fun and isn't that the point? I could care less about cutting edge graphics most of the time. The rant is really pointless though. MS and Sony are going to keep fighting the hardware war trying to have the best of the best until one of them crushes the other.

I actually love the Wii long time.

Gaming potential is awesome with this little system. Not just another sit and push like the PS3 and 360. I just know more people with PS3's, have more familiarity with the Sony controller, and really want some awesome Blu-ray titles to go with the surround and flat screen. Just a bit afraid of the gamer backlash and late night sessions. I guess there is a limit to how much I can game. Might just need an afternoon nap before planned sessions at night.

Here I go justifying the purchase...

I'm going to have to come down on the "hate" side as well, or at least the "meh" side (it's a word now!! http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2008/11/17/Dictionary_to_define_meh/UPI-54
581226953236
/ ). I bought one about a year and a half ago, played extensively for about a month, and then it sat unused for a long time. Hubby was given a copy of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the Wii for free, so we tried that out, and it sucked big time.

I feel like the Wii is a good idea that hasn't been executed well yet. The Wii-mote needs a couple more iterations before its really good, and the games for the Wii have all been very disappointing to me, with the exception of maybe Wario Ware, which is crazy fun with friends when you're drunk. The rest of it is shallow and/or poorly executed and/or trying too hard. Hopefully the tech will get better in a few years, but for now we're actually thinking about selling our Wii and all the games we have.

We also bought a 360 about a month ago, which I swore I would never do. We're both primarily PC gamers, and anything worth playing on the Xbox will eventually come out on the PC right? Well, except for Rock Band. We looked at the PS3 Rock Band as well, and ignored the Wii Rock Band because Guitar Hero sucked so badly, and decided the 360 was the way to go. We've slowed down a bit with the Rock Band since the WoW expansion came out, but I'm hoping that there'll be other games we want to play on the 360 eventually too.

Anyhow, mark me down as another one not so impressed by the Wii. Great idea, but it needs more polish IMO.

et tu CK? Surely you've heard about the motion plus coming out to make the wiimote really 1 to 1 movement. I guess I don't worry about the games that are trying to hard to work motion into the mix. I'm happy with 3 or 4 games a year. I'd probably be happy with the system if all I ever got out of it was twilight princess and mario galaxy.

Just wait for motion plus and see if that solves your complaints.

OK how about a ponder about charity work.

The austin browncoats were contacted about being extras for a filming of Friday Night Lights in a stadium here last weekend. They'd give our "pay" to the charity of our choice. I was all for it until I heard it was supposed to be 8 hours of filming. That's 8 hours of my weekend to stand around watching a fake football game? I wouldn't go to a regular football game for 8 hours.

Where do you guys draw the line on volunteering?

(btw one guy went and it turned out to be much longer. 8am to 11pm )

That is a whole lotta charity there.

After lunch yesterday I was taking MsA back to work and suddenly we lost power steering, the battery light came on, and poor Mavis began to heat up quite quickly. After stopping at her work I checked to see what was up. My assumption was that the belt broke. After looking the belt seemed to be in one piece, but loose. The Tensioner pully's internal spring had broke. Cutting this one short, we made it to the dealer right down the street to get it fixed. Long day, but that's not all. We also found out there were three recall items on the Jeep that we never recieved notice for. Hopefully it is all well now.

Ok, so here's a question for you guys. This is something that's sparked a lot of debate in a (predominately female) gamer community I'm in. CliffyB, the figurehead behind Gears of War and the upcoming Gears of War 2 said this in an official interview about GoW2:

Quote:

"A beta is like hooking up with a girl just to say, "yeah, I fucked her." I know that sounds crude, but it's the honest-to-God truth. Once you play a beta, you can check it off your list--you can say, "yeah, I played it." Then you might not feel motivated to get that initial cherry popping from the proper, final game."
Myself and many others found this to be offensive and inappropriate for an official interview, but the line from Cliffy's camp is that he was targeting a specific audience when he said that, and those of us who are offended are not his target audience. Myself and others have been accused of being "sticks in the mud" and giving girl gamers a bad name, because we object to the idea of a professional comparing his game to using a woman for sex.

So what do you guys think? Is it appropirate for a professional who was giving an official interview, representing himself, his company, and his game, to make that sort of statement? Or are myself and others who have decided we won't be buying GoW2 now overreacting?
