oh oh I actually have a decent one that sorta fits the imponderable theme.

Why do women hate on each other so much?

I'm a poker fan and I watch the big televised events. This one lady does pretty well and gets on tv a lot. A bunch of people are ripping on her saying she plays poorly and acts like a jerk, but it seems women are going above and beyond against her. To me all of it is a double standard. Plenty of the guys in the tournament played as badly or worse. Plenty of the guys were bigger jerks than she was. You could almost justify some of the hatred saying that women wanted her to represent them better, but it's not just this. It's all over the place where women hate on other women who are in the spotlight. What's with that?

Competition for a mate naturally.

As seen in nature the male seems to have the bright colors or extra attachments (antlers and the like) to signify their status.

That and they fight, or dance. Wierd them mens.

Anyhoo I had it explained to me this way. I hope not too much offense is taken as I mean not to offend.

Women lie. Not all of them but some of them. They do this because they are less physically powerful than a man. A man can beat your skull his fist much easier than a woman. But a woman will rely on cunning quicker than a man. A woman may lie to keep food in her cache, to persuade a possible mate that she is a better mate than the one available, and to keep from being physically harmed. It was developed over time and has been modified according to the changing times. It is why the female of the species is much more attractive than the male. It is why the male looks at the revealing and painted type more often.

But there is the ruse. Again the female has used cunning to attain her goal.

SO that is it. A defense mechanism. I'm just sore that the male is no longer the pretty one, I am unable to bear children, and the female is still the smarter of the species.

Damn. Think I just lost Dude Points for that one.

Yep negative dude points. You really want the ability to bear children? It sounds awful to me. I'm glad we drew the long straw on that one personally.

So, deep down women hate other successful women because they're worried that she is more desirable? How come guys aren't the same? It seems like success is even more closely tied to what kind of mate a man can pull in than it is for women. I mean to some extent guys can be jealous and rip on other successful guys but for the most part it seems like we idolize them rather than try to tear them down. See: sports stars, successful business men, etc.

That's because we emulate what we would rather be. If we see a more successful male we might try using those observations to better ourselves.

Here's a ponder: should I take a really interesting-sounding class that *just* became open to sophomores (which i was hoping would happen) when it's held from 6 to 9 at night? I appreciate feedback on this one, cuz i'm torn ><

Once again not Friday. What a cruel calendar.

Don't know about the 6-9PM class. I had a class that went past 6PM and it was sorta annoying. I lived off campus at the time and the bus stopped running at 5:30. I didn't have a parking permit to park on campus so I just had to park illegally those nights. It really depends on how much you want to take the class I guess.

It's almost here Zeek.

Unfortunately most of y'all won't have a holiday tomorrow. We are lucky enough to have Friday off for Nevada Day and Halloween which is the coolest thing ever, Saturday is the celebratory parade, Sunday is up in the air (kinda), and we're thinking of taking Monday off.

...almost here.

ok mini-quick ponder-poll I'm curious as to which states have a censored title to the Zack and Miri make a porno movie. In TX the title is just Zack and Miri and I was making fun of how dumb it was that they truncated the title while I was up in IN last weekend. However, there the commercials still call the movie Zack and Miri make a porno. So, apparently the title is only shortened in certain markets. So, if you've seen the commercials and paid attention to what they're calling the movie I say post your state and whether or not it's got the short title.

So far I know:
TX - short title
IN - full title

Hmm Zeek I'd say it's because women have been trained to view themselves as in competition with other women and because they have learned to measure themselves in terms of attractiveness, skils, etc against other women.. which explains a lot abotu why women have such negative self image. There's always going to be someone prettier, better at stuff, and more of this or that... try reaching for your best not someone else's just doesn't seem to resonate with most women

FLT.... I took a couple of late classes. I had a hard time staying with it, but the classes were very worth it and I am glad I did it

I'll look and let you know Zeek

Ok soooooo looking forward to tomorrow!!

Last night was the haunted house. The kids and NV did a fantastic job and I know their room was the best one in the whole haunted house..

Whoa, oops. Totally forgot my anniversary yesterday, lol. Seven years together. The wedding anniversary totally overshadows this anniversary anyhow, so we don't usually pay much attention to this anniversary. But we did spend the evening together -- cooked dinner, watched House, played WoW, played Rock Band -- which is pretty much what we would have done if we'd remembered anyhow.

It's still not Friday, but that's not such a bad thing, since I decided to start taking apart the pants I made for hubby's costume to put pockets into them. Hopefully I can get them done in time.

Lol Zeek, I think I've mentioned them to you before. They're both gamers and Browncoats and anime geeks and such. One is 21 and the other is 18 (and a CS major, looking to become a video game programmer professionally). But they're both in Utah attending BYU, and determined to marry good Mormon boys, so so far I haven't been able to fix them up with any of my friends.

Oh, and my guild ran KZ last night for the special Halloween boss, and I got this: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39769 for my warrior (who happens to be named after one of the BDHs). It's pretty badass, even if the effect does turn my character into a guy lol. Now I'm going to have to respec her for Titan's Grip, once they patch that into not sucking quite so much on the hit percentage.

In all honesty I think I'm too selfish. I like spending my time however I want. As soon as I have to accommodate others I get more cranky.

For instance my trip back to college for homecoming left me on edge cause I wanted to get back home. It was only 3 days and I was like "omg I want my routine back!". A girl is really going to have to sweep me off my feet to find a place in my life.

My husband and I are both pretty selfish people, honestly, and have strong opinions and quick tempers to boot. But I think when you find someone you really care about, you want them to be happy at least as much as you want yourself to be happy, so if you're both selfish it works out. As long as you always keep the good of your SO in mind and always want them to be happy, I think it works quite well.

Another thing that I've told my sisters and some of my girl friends who have just started dating is that when you're getting into a relationship that you think has long term potential, take a good look at how the guy was living just before you started dating. All relationships go through a courting phase, but after that I think most guys are most comfortable if they're allowed to go back to their normal routine, even now that their lives have changed.

So when I first started dating my husband 7 years ago, he was staying up late every night playing Diablo and had a very low maintenance life with very few possessions. So when things started settling in for us, I wasn't offended when he didn't want to watch movies or go out to dinner every night. Some nights we play video games together, some nights he plays and I knit. I also knew that having some material possessions is important to me (weird psychological thing for me), so I've gone out of my way to make sure that he's involved in all the big purchases, and that the stuff we get is either low maintenance or something I can take care of myself. When I first met him he didn't even have a DVD player, but now we have a pretty high tech home theater set up -- that I researched, picked out, set up, and maintain all on my own. The joke is that he doesn't even know which remote to use for what. And he spoils me rotten in all sorts of ways, so it works. /Shrug

Hey y'all!

Just a quick fly-by. Zeek was awesome enough to come looking for me. Warmed the cockles of my go-go girl costumed heart. ;) (BTW, thanks for the computer link..I'll keep my eye out. I think I've decided that I'm going to get a laptop and a satellite card. That should be all I need. I would have internet AND TV (because you know...most shows are online these days) AND my computer. I'm still in planning stages, but I think that's where I'm heading.)

Anyway, I haven't been around much because work is CRAZY busy. My four employee dept was down to two, then back up to three and now back down to two. It will go down to one (me) in just a bit. That means MUCH work for me and little internet time. I think of you all often and hope everyone is doing well. I'll be back once things chill at work. *crosses fingers that it is soon.

Okay...back to work....sigh.

On Zeek's earlier ponder: There's a quote from a cheesy movie. I'll paraphrase here: 'When guys compete, it's overt. When girls compete, it's art.' Being nasty is just one way we compete with each other. Some women can be nasty without you even catching on. They're the really good competitors. ;)

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you guys all had a good Halloween (MsB and NVG I know you guys did ). I managed to make it through without a single piece of candy, but that felt seriously weird. I treated myself to some homemade cookie dough over the weekend to make up for it, but it's still not the same. Sigh. At least we're in the home stretch to Thanksgiving now.

In other news, my costume came out well, got lots of comments at the party etc. People were taking pictures at the party and posted them to Facebook, of course. I'm actually pretty happy with the pictures I've seen, but my dad saw the costume and apparently freaked out a bit -- "I can't believe you didn't even wear a body suit underneath!!" Lol.

My big weekend news? I've actually entered the 1990's and have bought myself a home computer. :D I blame Zeek because he put it back in my mind. I went to do a little browsing and walked away with a 4G RAM, 320G Harddrive, Intel Pentium T3200 Processor, Wireless G/N card laptop. Eek. I'm pretty nervous that I bought a piece of crap, but I suppose them's the breaks if I did. I did get a printer/scanner/fax, router and anti-virus stuff for free...but even still...Eek.
