Flight, hands down, it's cool, it'll save me my bus pass costs (so money you got there) I don't want to be famous, and I forgot the other one.

Plus, I'm sure it'll cut my carbon footprint or something!

Just gotta throw myself at the ground and miss

Morning all:)
Had a lovely weekend filled with shooting, paintballing, movies, and relaxing.

So Ponder... what's your ideal weekend??

For me pretty similar to what we had. The fun activities combined with sleeping in, time to curl up and read, movie watching, and yummy food:)

MsB - that's a weak ponder. You'll have to do better.
NOW.
((high expectations))
My "ideal weekend" is one where I don't have to go back to work once the weekend is over.

Hmm ok new ponder

What one event/change could radically improve your life?

For me I'd say getting a job teaching history at the high school in town( I hate the long commute and I am missing teaching, but I'd like to not teach special ed for a bit)

H'mmm, finishing my course aside, I think it's going to be a good few years before anything resembling a dramatic change comes anywhere close to my life.

Think you've got good odds of getting the history job?

MSB - Good luck on the possible job! As far as what one thing to dramatically change my life? eh can't think of any one thing atm. Would be nice to catch that "good bounce" you hear about all the time from other people just once in a while. But nothing that could dramatically change my life.

*attempts not to explode*
So angry. Lab guy was trying to work on an issue we were seeing with a server by messing around on a test server. Oh except he didn't log into the test server he logged into our production server. Then he proceeded to uninstall a bunch of stuff and later realize his mistake. Now he has no idea how to get it fixed and ditched out for the day and dumped the problem on a teammate of his. This guy seems pretty clueless. He's actually trying to call a support number. We're only trying to get a project finished up. We don't need our server working or anything. *@^#$!!! I kept this quiet enough that our project manager didn't know about it but since it's pretty much the end of the day I have to tell her. Time for the shit storm.

Well at least with the market tanking I might get laid off at any time. Maybe that can happen before the project manager reads he e-mail.

Yeah breakables room sounds right. I'm sending e-mails and stuff trying to make sure all the people my project manager is going to scream to are aware of the situation before she gets to them. I've already told my manager and her manager of the situation. I'm pretty sure she still hasn't read her e-mail cause my phone isn't ringing yet.

hm, occupying self at work...really the only place I ever work is at the base ('cept when I worked at a kennel, and i was *always* occupied there) and when there's nothing to do up there, we have to get creative with entertainment as our interweb network doesn't allow us to access Hulu OR youtube. Mostly we banter with each other or play whatever games we've managed to stash on the comps. There's also one loud *Hi-larious* guy up there who manages to keep everyone laughing most of the day XD

Good morning everyone.

Here is a ponder. What is with the women/men who like to be beat and thrown about? I understand the correlation between abusive behavior and the make up/honeymoon time. But WTF? Why is that so enthralling to some people? Is life so "difficult" these days that people revert back to barbaric activities just to feel alive? Answering my own questions in my head here as I go along, just bothered by how some people conduct themselves. Yeah it is in their bedrooms and is their business. But when it spills over to their children (which I see everyday) others are left to pick up the pieces and hope these messed up kids give themselves a fair try.

No idea NVG but I did have a really awkward conversation at work yesterday. This manager stopped by to thank me for working with the people to get that one server fixed before the angry notes started flying all over the place. Then he went into how he's been getting enough angry people yelling at him lately anyway. He was like "sometimes you just want to tell them to flat out shut up. makes me understand why some guys beat their wives. hahahah can't ever shut up." me: *cringe* *awkward semi-laughter*

wtf do you say in that situation. "no no it doesn't make me understand them at all"? He's a freaking manager I have to work with so I don't want to get into an argument with him over non-work related stuff and get in a bad work relationship but jeez. Who says something like that?

Well FLT, I get to hear the twisted points of view from kids at work on a daily basis. Their shitty homes didn't help an already awkward time in their lives. And having friends who have lived like that make a person think about how much influence carries from such things.

Random thought okay. Stupid brain needs stabbing with a Q-Tip.

Awkward non-work conversations can be fun Zeek. When things turn to sex in the workplace it is always bound to be a bit awkward. Had an old partner ask me what kind of woman I like. After answering "warm" she giggled and looked me up and down before saying, "I bet you like 'em small so you can throw 'em around in the bedroom." I was surprized I handled it so well. We had a pretty good discussion about men and women that evening. Didn't work with her much after that. Waaay too much tension and I really liked my job at that time.

ADD: It might be a little of both HK. Mostly I was thinking about domestic violence. Understanding studies and the like seem logical but personally this whole emotional thing is confusing. I might need to re-cut some logic teeth. Tender gums aren't really my thing.

(Looks for logic teething ring)

I think some women just need to have that feeling of not being alone badly enough that they put up with the bad times because they think the good "honeymoon" times are the person's real character so it makes it easier to excuse the bad behavior as " stress" or drinking and not really them. They don't seem to realize the totality of behavior makes the person...

HUGS to all ok this is the last net time I will have all day

Oh, I see. Well, I think it's really very simple (generalizing from a female perspective). The first time it happens, you get very angry and a bit shocked, which turns into incredulity that he would ever do such a thing. That gives way to the hope that it was just an accident, a one time thing, he would never do that again. If he hits me again, I'm leaving. It may sound silly, but the idea that you'll give up "everything" for one teeny "mistake" is actually quite daunting; the words mean nothing until you actually feel it.

If it does happen again, you have two types of people: those who leave and those who don't.

Those who don't leave... well, there are reasons for it that seem perfectly logical. Fear being one of the big ones. Fear of not being able to make it on your own, fear that he'll come after you, fear that you won't be able to get enough money coming in to make rent or buy groceries, fear that you won't be able to be a single mother. Hope is another of the big ones, and quite possibly the most insidious. Hope that he'll change, hope that you'll have the man you fell in love with back. Because not every day is filled with fear and pain and violence. There are plenty of times when you feel happy and alive and in love. And it's those times that you remember and cling to for all you're worth because you liked the way it made you feel.

By the time these thoughts are running through your head, you're in a very dangerous trap. Self-esteem has been worn down and self-doubt has grown up in its place. The notion that you could ever feel love or be loved by someone else never really occurs to you, so you cling to that one hope....

And then one of two things will happen: you'll come to your senses and get out, or you'll live the rest of your life (however long or short that may be) with him in misery. Unfortunately for a great many people who go through this, logic and reason have long since been abandoned, so the chances of getting out of the bad situation are low... and you cling to that hope that you can one day regain that "love of your life".

...but what the hell do I know. ((shrug))

I wish I had some more Red Bull.

Oh this drives me nuts. A couple I'm friends with just got married and the guy is practically an alcoholic. The girl hates "drunk guy" like he's some other person. She blames "drunk guy" for any of his actions but doesn't ever seem to get upset at the guy himself. I really don't understand it. He's all one person. He chooses to get drunk. It's still him.

Meh, little (sometimes big) playful permitted spanks, sure. I was just fuming a bit on the strange perceptions people have/attain on such things. Remember though, women hit men too. Sometime they are mutual combatants, but is some communities the women are the primary aggressors.

Thank you HK for your thoughts on the subject. Using logic and adding the emotional parallels helps translate well. I see, hear and read the whys and hows I just forget that some people either don't now how to get out or lack the ambition to do so. Kinda disillusioned with how love works sometime. For better or worse?

I don't know why it is on my mind. Fear maybe? Not that I beat women (despite a few of the past ones needing it).
