Yippee for Fridays!

Firdays at work are "Breakfast Day." One of my co-workers started bringing in breakfast for out department. Sometimes it's as simple as bagels and cream cheese. Sometimes it's elaborate, like today, which is French Toast (she made it in our back room), scrambled eggs and bacon. I do so enjoy Fridays. :D

i don't think they can do that, cuz, well, if they're the reason you got hurt, they shouldn't be able to fire you because you're missing work to heal so u can be abused by them again lol. i dont know. if u need me to kill them for u, just say so XD or i could just threaten lolz

Okay, I've been wanting a phone for a while now, and I finally looked up some phones on BestBuy and picked one out I think'll be perfect for my needs, but when I talk with people they say that I also need a plan and a service provider and stuff like that, and I have no idea what the heck all of them are, and I'm AWFUL at trying to do research, soo... I'm asking you guys!

What would be the best thing for someone that doesn't use her phone a whole bunch, but plans semi-regular usage, and wants a pay-per-minute system, with minutes that DON'T expire? (I had a tracfone that the rents gave me for some holiday or other despite the fact that I didn't want one, and I hated it because I never used it and the minutes would always expire on me. It because one of my pet peeves, so, I don't want anything like that)

r u talking about a pay as you go phone? cell phone? cuz they have no-contract go phones out there.

Also depends on how much money you're willing to spend on the phone.

yeah... well, I have no idea about most of the cell phone world, I'm fairly (well, okay, EXTREMELY) clueless about these things- I just want something that looks pretty nice, has a pay-for-the-min-beforehand so I don't get a bill at the end of every month or whatever, and I want minutes that don't expire

I wanted to, MsB, but have so far restrained myself.

My only consolation so far is that Mister Useless Man #1 finally got shit-canned at work Friday. I actually danced a little jig in the R&D lab when I told my co-workers. They, too, danced a little jig.

I am, for the first time in my internet life, embroiled in some lame internet dramaz, and it's bugging the ever loving fuck out of me. I thought about outlining the situation here in hopes of gaining some of that good old Imponderables perspective, but I'm not sure it would do any good.

So, I am lurking, waiting for the entertainment to begin. ((lurk))

Eh? Tracfone minutes don't expire as long as you keep it active. I have *goes to check* 700+ minutes. When they made me turn in my old model phone (it was HUGE) the tech guy was like 'I can't roll over your minutes to the new phone' and I told him he better find someone who could. :D

Depends. Has person (don't know if it is you) sought care for the injury and told provider it was work related? Has a work comp claim been submitted?

If no care has been sought, it's your word against their's.

Whether or not the injury is work related, they CAN terminate any health benefits if employee is not subject to any protected leave. If there is protected leave, the benefits will extend to the end of the leave and can then be terminated. There is still health coverage through the employer's workers' compensation policy, but not the regular employer-sponsored health plan.

Sorry about all that, FMF. =(
It sure as shit shouldn't cost you $1150 for your son to graduate high school....

If it were me in his place, I wouldn't want a ring (seriously, who wears those anyway??), I'd go to a different photographer if my parents wouldn't take the picture themselves, and I'd wear jeans and a t-shirt instead of cap and gown. Fuck them, gimme my diploma. (whoops, sorry, should i have censored that?) In fact, I nearly did forgo the gown, but the caps / gowns were "rental" type things supplied by the school, so my 'rents made me wear them. Jean shorts and an Ozzy t-shirt underneath, though, which kinda showed through the thin gown. XD

Maybe it's just me, though; high school graduation didn't mean a damn thing to me... and I'd rather have the money than the over-priced foofaraw.

FMF: Eeks, that sounds on the expensive side. Especially the cap and gown. That should be like $50. Oh wait, that includes some announcements? Yeah, those are $$$$.

I do remember everything being way expensive 20 years ago, so it doesn't surprise me that it's even more.

Does he want all the stuff? He's going to stop wearing the class ring once he graduates. They don't mean what they use to. These days you can make really nice announcements without having to buy the pre-made ones. Does he have any friends from last year that he could borrow a cap and gown from?

The pictures sounds pretty level with many years ago. My senior picture is the one thing I return to most often so I would put the most money into that. Pictures really do show how much money is put into them. Maybe you know an amateur photographer that is amateur in name only? (as an fyi, I know a few pros and their sitting fee is at minimum $200 and pictures start at $45 for a 5 x 7. Hopefully if you're paying those prices the pictures really are that much better...and in the case of my friends, they really are. I know a few other pros that aren't quite as costly...and their overall picture quality is lacking.)

Gotta jump on the wagon, too.
FMF, totally feeling your pain. I have two kids in school, and school pictures are coming up for both. The company that is doing it has the con down pat. I realize that school pics aren't nearly as expensive, but they are bad. This company does both the individual and class pics, and you can't order them seperately, you must get a package. And the packages are set up so bizarrly that you can't get what you want in one package, you must use the "add-on" options. My wife read to me the options last night and I freaked out. I'd rather go get a decent digital camera and take my own pics, except I want them to have class pics, and you can't order that separately at all. Fucking vultures picking the pockets of people who just want to have some nice memory sparkers. Maybe I'll just sneak in and take them anyway. < walks away old man grumbling>

Gorram,

Can you JUST do the class picture? Or do you mean a big every student in the senior class, picture?

We HAD to take our picture for the yearbook with a designated photographer, but we could take our senior portraits anywhere else we decided (or not at all).

I would protest. They can't force you to get everything through one photographer. Go to the school board and demand that you be allowed to get the pictures necessary for school stuff done by the one at a reasonable price (our yearbook shot was free unless you ordered prints for yourself) and to have the choice to use whomever you want for the portrait package. They school CANNOT force you to use one photographer and if someone raises a loud enough stink, they will give in.

Hmm yeah we were allowed to have ours done and a choice of studios ( 3 choices to be precise) for our senior. All others had to be done by the school photographer

I'd agree on the ring no one does anything with those except toss them in a drawer and once every 10 or so years run across it and smile

I think I've seen my high school class ring once or twice in the last 15 years... not sure which box it's buried in at the mo'.

I was gonna use my polaroid of me and Ozzy for my Senior pic, but Mom wouldn't let me. XD

Don't schools do yearbooks anymore? And don't those yearbooks have the class photos in them?

In an age were everyone and their pets have a digital camera, I'm not sure what the big deal is about going to a "professional" photographer to "capture the moment". Take your own photos, they'll be better than a pro's.

But maybe I'm just overly not-sentimental. ((snerk))

Class Pics, kids are in 3rd and 6th. And they won't allow JUST a class pic, it has to be with a package of the individual shots. The thing is, I don;t mind the packages, but the costs are prohibitive, and there is no way of getting just the class pic, and say an 8X10, those are either part of the package or an and-on, both of which are still way over-priced.

Yeah I don't have a class ring... I don't have interest in costume jewelry and it's not a real stone or metal( yes I'm picky)

Gorram I know just what you mean:) Plus the backdrop and everything is so cheezy.. I'm sure you'd just rather do the real portrait in a nice qualified studio

ZEEK

psssh pictures. I'm totally ruined for pictures. My Dad is waaaaay too concerned about them and made me do a 180 on pictures. I still remember anything we did as kids we had to take like 20 minutes of possed pictures starring into the sun trying not to squint and being bored out of our minds rather than just doing stuff. Why spend time looking at things through a lens when you could be experiencing them and why look back when you can live life now? Pictures...bah!
