I'm from London and slowly converting as many friends as possible.

I also contacted the Beeb about them picking up the series. I suggest as many UK fans send a request to them as possible.

I got their response back this afternoon.

------------------------------------------

Dear Mike

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the American series ‘Firefly’.

There are currently no plans for the BBC to broadcast 'Firefly', however I have registered your interest in the series for the attention of our Acquisitions department.

You may like to know that there is a 'Firefly' section on the BBC website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/news/02060502.shtml

I hope this is of interest to you and thank you again for taking the time to contact the BBC.

Regards

Sean Doyle

Yes, there are other British browncoats out here :-)

Did you email the Beeb or write them a letter?

I'm interested to know because I heard a while back that, despite plugging BBCi constantly, the Decision Makers at the Beeb felt that emailers weren't seriously worth listening to. Especially when it came to this sort of thing.

Hi Britchick,

I sent the initial e-mail to the CultTV e-mail addy. cult@bbc.co.uk

The initial response was:

-----------------------------

Hi Mike

That would be lovely, but I don't think it'll happen. Try emailing the info@bbc.co.uk address as well, to log the fact you'd like to see Firefly on the BBC.

All the best

Ann

----------------------------

I don't suppose it can hurt if lots of people contact the beeb expressing their interest.

This is just the beginning

I was starting to wonder if there was any firefly fans in the uk, thanks for the quick reply. Is it just me or am i the only one who finds that bbc cult has an article regarding firefly a bit strange, lets face it the beeb were slow on the up take with buffy so who knows the bbc might just surprise us all and show the damn thing.if anyone from the bbc are reading this, if you show firefly show it in a decent time slot with no cuts ala buffy.lastly channel 4 ...leave it well alone.

Trask43, what do you think about the UK releasing region 1 DVDs on Amazon (see whedonesque.com) three months before region 2 comes out? Is it a money grab? Will many people buy the region 1 sets?

I'm a Worcester-based-action-figure-making Browncoat!

I've got the Region 1 DVDs and am planning to get my mum the Region 2 version for Mother's Day... she doesn't have a multi-region player.

Hi

I'm another British Firefly Fan. I'm banging the drum about it wherever I can and telling people about it and how great it is. Also working on a Fanzine with a bit of luck, will post again more info about it when issue 2 is ready. Issue 1, is available and its the first post you get on screen when you load this website. Sly.

This does seem a bit strange for amazon to be selling the american ones especially as the region 2 ones are due on sale soon. I think sales of the region 2 disk could be hit quite a bit by this and the fact that pretty much evey uk fan with a region 1 dvd player will already have the box set. Whereas something like buffy or angel the region 2 disks usual come out before the region 1.

Red coats my boys and girls....damnit

and firefly wont ever be on the bbc, sorry to say that.

It was/is shown on the sci fi channel on sky/digital/etc...

and it, i think, scored that channel highest ratings i'll go check what nubmers that is exactly.

So, you'll probably have to wait to show your friends the dvds

Another British fan here (Derbyshire).

I got a region 1 set of the DVDs (and a player from Amazon to go with), but may get region 2 as well, so I can share them and get some converts.

See the Yahoo group of British browncoats:

See you all there soon.

Wow, more UK Browncoats than I thought.

Due to age of DVD player have to wait for region 2 DVD to be released.

Couple of converts so far. Working on more right now.

I'm from Coventry.
Its easy to spot me - I'm wearing a ...long.....browncoat!
