Jewel Staite has been nominated for a Canadian TV awards Gemini for best performance as an actress in a continuing leading role for her portrayal as Dr. Jennifer Keller in last seasons episode of Stargate Atlantis called "Missing". The awards will be given out in Toronto on Nov. 28. The Gemini's are for TV shows produced in Canada or made by Canadian production companies. Stargate Atlantis received four nominations, the others being for writing, special effects, and makeup. Here's the link:

There are quite a few positive comments and also some negative comments on the Gateworld forum for her receiving this nomination, especially as many fans believe it was not her greatest performance. Jewel was not well received by many Stargate fans as she was seen to be replacing a very well loved character who got killed off in Season 3, Dr. Carson Beckett. But her recent great performance in "The Shrine" has seemed to cast her in a new light with many fans. Too bad the show got canceled!!
