Well the Tron 2 trailer with Jeff Bridges blew me away. I can't wait to see it. Note: It premiered at the San Diego Comic Con from Disney.

Also, Goonies 2. Apparently Warner Brothers is pulling out all the stops with this one. Huge Budget, and the complete cast of original characters make it a must see.

There's a sequel to Donnie Darko in the works. Why? Why? Why?

But Tron 2 with Jeff Bridges? Very exciting.

If they really want to ruin it they should get Will Ferrel to play Snake. 2 years ago they remade All the Kings Men, the 1949 Oscar winner for best picture. The remake stared that mental case Sean Penn, it bombed!

It's not the best quality(only showed once at the SD Comic Con) but this is probably the best your gonna get until early next year when Disney releases the full trailer.

Well, two this summer that I thought were completely unnecessary were THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR and SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS 2. With the former, the bloom was off the flower in 01 with THE MUMMY RETUNS, so a third one 7 years later was an exercize in redundancy. As for TRAVELING PANTS 2, I'm just amazed they could come up with another movie. What, they found another pair of pants that fit them? That warrants a part 2?

At least HELLBOY II fixed the problems with the first film and THE DARK KNIGHT took off like a rocket. And I was more bothered with Mutt swinging around with the monkeys and Indy and Marion getting married at the end of KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL than the fridge. I actually prefer it over TEMPLE OF DOOM.

As for upcoming ones, I think the Donnie Darko sequel is another unnecessary one, especially since Richard Kelly has nothing to do with it. Wouldn't be surprised if it was dumped to video.

nicholas cage in the remake of bangkok dangerous, noooooo this has to be the most pointless remake ever,I'm looking forward to all the new clive barker remakes though ,hellraiser, candyman and the midnightmeat train ,these are all to be realased this year and next.Deathrace 3000 looks terrible from the trailer i saw.I'm really hoping robert rodrigez can get sincity 2 off the ground and start filming soon as i loved the first film, all the best miike

October 12th, 1985. Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.

I've been kinda out of the loop lately when it comes to new and upcoming releases (it's kind of a hobby for me over the last 15 or so years).

But....Tron 2 and Goonies 2............

I'm there! Actually I've been hearing about Tron 2 for quite some time. I'm a total geek for the first one. Same for Goonies (Hey You Guys!).
I would love to see them use as many of the original cast, even if it's in cameo appearences, I just find that to be so cool.

When I saw Get Smart this summer they used one of the few remaining original cast members in a cameo and I loved it. You know what I would love to see a remake of Starman (of course with Jeff Bridges).

I agree with you on most points:

The Mummy Dragon: I waiting for it to go to video, then maybe I'll see it.

Traveling Pants 2?: Didn't see the first one. Hollywood is trying to corner every market in the summer months, this one's for teenage girls. Last year it was Nancy Drew.

Indy 4 - Temple of Space Ships?: I loved it except for the parts you mentioned. Indy getting married? Was it me or did you think that Marion was an afterthought by George Lucas. They really didn't give her much to do. I found Shia LeBouf a little annoying. But it was better than Temple of Doom.

TDK: Is off the chain!

Darko: It's like trying to remake "Some Like It Hot" why mess with a classic!

HB II: I have yet to see it. It's next on my list. Can't hardly wait, looks good.

Hancock: I was unimpressed. Peter Berg's The Rundown was fun, but this movie was hit and miss.

When I read Tron 2 at the top I thought 'Oh No. Here we go again!' But that trailer in all it's crappy quality looks fantastic and then to have The Dude in it as well is the icing on the cake. There is so much more they can do these days with FX that it will look perfect, it's just whether the story holds up.
The Goonies 2 has been a rumour for many years but they could do a good job of it. As long as they don't do a 'passing the baton' type thing that I heard they were going to do.

As for the horror remakes then they are as pointless as the Halloween one. The originals are great that were ran into the ground and buried six feet under by a series of increasingly inferior sequels. Someone should put salt on them and set fire to them so that they can finally be laid to rest.

A sequel to Donnie Darko is about as needed as a sequel to Titanic.

So it looks like we should expect announcements about new versions of Body Snatchers, The Thing, Plan 9 From Outer Space and The Munsters.

Y'know, the inclusion of Sam & Dean would make just about any horror remake much more palatable. . .

Ok they simply cannot re-make Rocky Horror... Tim Curry is going to look ridiculous in that outfit now ( mind you I can't even fathom and refuse to allow the concept of someone besides Tim as Frankenfurter)

I loved Hellboy2 and Dark Knight, really didn't mind Indy

ok and I am so disturbed by the idea of a Candyman remake...come on Tony Todd rocks that part!

After watching Escape from NY and Escape from LA back to back in order to introduce the Fremgirl to Snake Plissken, I just gotta say it...

NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE, but Kurt Russel can possibly pull off the gratuitous over the top, larger than life badassery of Snake Plissken and actually MAKE IT WORK - anyone else tried and it would come off as cheese, bad cheese at that.

It's a very rare thing when they write and cast a part that absolutely, on paper, should NOT work - and yet somehow the actor they picked makes it not only work, but manages to make it exciting and entertaining.

Three examples.
Robin Williams as Genie (Alladin)
Lori Petty as Tank Girl (Tank Girl)
Kurt Russel as Snake Plissken (Escape)

I'll note for the record that the Fremgirl, who usually despises violent movies, actually liked the Escape stuff.
(two movies, one plot, bwahaha)

"Nobody moves, till this can... hits the ground."

But should they ever try a remake without Russel, they might as well shovel it to that hack Uwe Boll, cause ain't no WAY yer gonna get anything but crap.

On the other hand, should they ever make a movie of anything involving Metal Gear, you just GOT to stick Russel in there somewhere, he's freakin perfect for it.

Actually, according to Hideo Kojima himself, Plissken was in fact the original inspiration for Solid Snake's character concept, he even uses a variation of the name as an alias in MGS2.

Usually just lurk around, but I had to mention this in case you haven't heard.

Apparently they want to make a sequel of Top Gun. Short plot summary:

20 years later maverick is still at top gun, but now the roles are reversed and he has to deal with an over cocky female pilot.

I loved top gun as a kid, but this sounds more lame than lame to me.
