Hey impassioned inhabitants of the Firefly universe. Doesn't anybody work around here? Or are you all at your cubicles day dreaming of being in Inarra's shuttle or with Capt. Mal as per your orientation?

I avidly devoured the three unaired Firefly episodes, Joss Whedon and cast interviews, special features on the DVD release.

Next I shall watch all the shows again and savour them.

I've been reading all your postings and think it's an excellent idea to do viewer subscription financing for something like the Firefly series.

Like many of you, I do wonder what evil machinations occur in television exec land where stuff like Enterprise, Andromeda, Stargate, etc. churn on week after week when Whedon's vision burst upon the scene like a flash of redemption.

Now, see, the question really should be: "Doesn't any GO TO work." Mainly 'cause I GO TO work, but just 'cause I'm there, don't mean I'm workin', see.

I'm a stay-at-home mom of teenagers, so I pretty much don't have anything to do except laundry & feeding 'em. LOTS of free time. LOL.

The car sales industry slows to a crawl during the winter up here in my little corner of Canada.

I gotta do something to pass the time... don't I?

Cubicle dweller here! Well, actually I don't have a cubicle, but I do have a desk!
I'm fortunate enough to work in a semi-creative environment (entertainment industry, sales & marketing) and tho' I really love my job, sometimes I take occasional "mental breaks" surfing the net and visiting favourite sites...like this one!
Oh, and there's a co-worker who was also a fan of Firefly! She didn't know that there was a DVD set available.
What?? No ads for "Firefly"? Nothing's changed. Just like when they were on the air! (Heh.)
Since I'm not a regular viewer of Fox, (other than the extremely disappointing season 3 of '24')
does anyone here know if they even advertise their show's DVDs?

A job? I used to have one of them...but it sucked. I don't think working is really for me. I mean, driving to a place and doing stuff that people tell you for eight hours a day, five days a week, for like, thiry years? No thank you!

And scince college doesn't start up again until Thursday, I have a lot of free time.

Dang...you must be either independently wealthy...or living with your folks!
LOL!
I think the idea is to find a job that you like.
And all jobs aren't eight hours a day, five days a week. And they all don't last 30 years.

Very true, Tallgrrl. I've jumped from job to job over the years. Mostly clerical work for various places, both profit and not-for-profit. I must say the most interesting place I've worked, though, is my job that just ended before I started my student teaching. I worked in the Health Services dept. of a juvenile prison for three years.

I'm a student. I can't believe how much free time I have. I'm taking nineteen hours, maybe twenty.

So that's bound to change.

Yes, 3 teenagers, although only 2 remain at home (both boys ). The youngest (mine) is going to be 15 next month. As I'm 35, that would make me...that's right! A very stupid 19 year old! LOL.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

My job really requires very little in the way of my attention. I am a marketing director and have a staff that takes care of 90% of the busy work. I get to go to the stuffy meetings w/ the old guys for an hour every morning, then it is off to my office to shuffle paperwork and sign things. I do have to go over proposals and things of that nature, but I have it down to a science, so I have quite a bit of time for net surfing.

Well, the second one...but it's just community college, so not like dorms are an option. If they were, I'd be there, beleive you me.

Not sure I can find a job I'd like with my qualifications (or lack thereof). I think it'd be cool to be a lawyer, or the CEO of some business, or a teacher - but think you need more than a diploma for them kinda jobs.
