Just finish seeing the funniest sing along blog in the world - Dr. Horrible.

Joss has another winner on his hands.

A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do.

You couldn't do a fella browncoat a favour, and tell me how to actually view this thing, could you? I logged onto the site at about 5pm GMT last night and there was a message saying "this video is not available at this site"! And I've been looking forward to it so much.

Not 100% sure, but I heard they had so many hits that their server crashed. I saw it on our I.T. guy's computer....thought Nathan was great, the rest meh.

I was so peed off that I missed this. Had to allow for the time difference and when it was first out I was asleep and then at work.
When I got back it was gone.

For me the first two link say the vid is not available.

iTunes has it but I don't wanna pay until I see it, especially as it's supposed to be free. Think I may have found it 'by alternative means' though and if it's as good as I read then I'll buy the DVD anyway.

I love it too. I've watched it way too many times. I like the laundry mat song and the bad horse song the best so far. The man's gotta do ones aren't doing it for me really. Though I still love it.

Signatures? hehe I could so see me thinking that but hopefully not saying it.

Of course you have to instantly fall in love with the superhero that throws you into a garbage pile in order to "save" you and then sing a duet with him.

Just funny, funny stuff.

"The hammer...is my penis"--LOL! Fabulous.

NPH has great comedic timing. He can utilize the Joss humor, so I like that.

I still think the first Act songs are really really catchy, but I do like the first (duet) and last song in Act 2.

Nathan's delivery of that line is hilarious. The line is funny but the way Nathan does it is just awesome.

I am loving NPH. He really is amzingky talented. I feel he just graduated in my eyes from Doogie. He is a the perfect Dr. Horrible.

Can't wait for Act 3.

Yeah, the Freeze Ray song is great, too!
Hell, they're all great!

And it's great to see that great big smile of Nathan's that I've heretofore only seen in video clips from backstage at conventions, when Joss is introducing him in his own style.

I'm guessing it's not, but might have been designed to give that impression to those who would appreciate it...

What's killing me about all of this is that I'm loving the first two episodes, but I leave the house at 6am on the day Act III comes on to go out of the country and not be near a computer for over a week! I don't have iTunes, so I'll either have to wait for the DVD or get iTunes just to buy the third part!!!

Have you guys heard that Dr.Steels fans (The Toy Soldiers) are in an uproar, claiming that Joss stole his material? They're starting a grass-roots movement, threatening to disrupt Comic Con events and everything.

Frankly, and maybe it's just me, I don't see very much ... as in any... resemblence in the material, except for the core concept which, honestly, Dr. Steel clearly stole from every comic book he read as a child.

Ah well, as they sing...
A MAN'S GOTTA DOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT A MAN'S GOTTA DO!
Obviously the Toy Soldiers haven't dealt with Browncoats before...

My fav part is the Bad Horse song. And I'm loving Penny (I could see her as Kaylee's sister at some point in the FF Saga).

I agree that NPH has shown that he's much more than a former child star. He's perfect as Dr. H, but ya' know I found myself rooting for the poor evil genius. The poor schmoe is stutteringly in love with our beautiful Penny, what's an evil doctor to do?

Laundry song - loving it! The Penis joke - just too funnee! Can't wait for Act 3.

Wow. Definitely caught me by surprise, even though

Select to view spoiler:

it seems to be a pattern in the Whedonverse, in that I don't think any relationship has ended well. The lucky ones end in painful heartbreak but most seem to end with a violent death. Which makes me think that Kaylee and Simon are doomed.

And you could see that Penny was falling for Billy. Just heartbreaking.

Very well done.

well I was pretty shocked... I was expecting standard musical: light romantic comedy, like OMWF...
I wasn't expecting tragedy!

But I have to say how much I love it! I'm so moved my it, Neil Patrick Harris was completely brilliant!

STOWEAWAY

Actually I think it's VERY significant.
Nevermind the content, look what he has done. He put it all together for the whopping price of "the low 6 figures" and distributed it without the help of the studios.
And when it finally went live he basically "broke the Internet" from demand. Then Dr. Horrible became the #1 download on iTunes.
I don't know how much money he's made from it thus far. But he's already changed the course of entertainment. The studios should be scared.
And if you truly listen to the dialog, he really does make some heavy statements -- just in light-hearted song. 'Cause everybody knows that's the least painful way to learn a lesson.
He refers to Capt. Hammer as a "corporate tool" -- studio tool, perhaps? He talks about "sheeple" showing up for the slaughter.
Watch it again -- there is plenty of substance in that 40 minute gem.

As far as the ending -- somehow I just had a hunch. Couldn't really have ended any other way. It's the product of Hammer's ego & Horrible's, well, horribleness deep down inside.

Act 3 caught me totally off-guard. I was not ready for what took place. I noticed from the first act that JW was approaching this from an entirely different direction.

But I think I need to see it again to "see" what you were talking about Stoweaway. I did hear the line about "corporate tool" and wondered for a second what it was about.

But Joss did take musical comedy and direct-to-fandom entertainment in a whole new direction. The studios are already quite nervous about the advent of homegrown tv (if the writers strike was any indication).

The Bad Horse song it just too funnee for words.

For those of us outside of the US (and those who just want to see them again!) I uploaded a few of my favorite songs from Dr. Horrible onto youtube. Of course, I am highly urging everyone to purchase the real thing on iTunes (which I've already done) and the DVDs when they're out!

Here's the songs.
Laundry Day (My Freeze Ray)

A Man's Gotta Do (+ Reprise)

On the Rise

Perfect Story (So They Say)

Everyone's a Hero

The Nightmare's Real (Finale)

Of course, these contains spoilers if you haven't watched them yet, so you've been warned! and certainly enjoy, Browncoats. =)
