I often wonder why the creators of shows like Firefly, Jericho, Enterprise and others that have been cancelled don't just create their own cable channel for fans. They already have the numbers to sell airtime. I just don't see this as a huge leap.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

The creators of those shows are not the ones who financed them. Starting up a new cable network would not come cheap, so Joss and Co. are not the ones who would do it if it ever happens.

The combined funds from the creators of FireflyJericho, Enterprise and others, plus they could most certainly garner ad space to garrantee a loan for the venture, because of the number of viewers already calculated.

LIke SciFi started. Until it got profitable and the corporate parasites came in and bought them. Now look at it.

You're talking about canceled series here. Very few investors are going to listen to reason because they are the kinds of people who equate potential investments to successful ventures, and I doubt they are going to consider a series cancellation to be much of a success.

I'm not trying to discourage your enthusiasm, but Hollywood revolves around the dollar, and a lot of the shows we love did not generate enough of them or else they would still be in production.

About a year ago I remember running across a cable channel that had a summer special marathon viewing of cancelled shows. It was called "Brilliant...but Cancelled"

So someone thought of the idea, but it's all a matter of the almighty dollar. Of course, if you get enough fans to generate some new interest on that particular cable channel - who knows; new advertisers may want to foot the bill to produce new programming.

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!
